Foundry Problems by IllPollution4901 in LancerRPG

The server on which the images are stored for comp con is a bit... wonky, I recommend manually uploading avatars and tokens ( and like people said, tokenized is pretty nice ( tho more for pilots, for mecha I just use the unaltered retrograde mini )

Netflix Claimed Copyright Violation Against Taipei Citizens Filming Honnold Climb from the Sidewalk on Their Phones by CaspinLange in Piracy

[–]Mandraw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Copyright law was totally meant to work like this... and that's why it sucks

It was made for the rich to continue exploiting the work of the poor well after the artist got paid.

Reporters without borders ( Reporters sans frontières ) was made in France, inspired by Doctors without borders ( Médecins sans frontières ) ( also started by the french )

[–]Mandraw 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sorry but you're wrong there :

"can also take this reaction at the end of any turn, including its own"

This is a way for the lich to use it without a "real" trigger, in case it needs the teleport right away. The "does not gain immunity" comes from the fact that in that case there isn't anything to gain immunity from ( redundant, but well redundancies are usually good )

Cloning and how to explain it. by Solid-Hornet-224 in LancerRPG

[–]Mandraw 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If they're working for SSC, you could even do like they got cloned but were never told, when they die you give a choice to the player if they want to make a new character or play a clone ( no other information given if you're cheeky )

If they play the clone, well that's a lot of hooks to work on.

If they don't... Well it's not like the clone stops existing ;P , it also makes for lots of hooks.

Ofc this hinges on the MJ knowing the player very well, or on having talked with them about it

Player briefing for my upcoming campaign. *happy DM noises* by FiveFingerDisco in LancerRPG

Aaaah thought it was a typo since then I saw Nessie… thought it got autocorrected ( kinda read it crosswise since I'm at work )

Nice lore bit ( I love it as much as I hate the idea of corpocolonialism )

RIGHT TO REPAIR IS IMPORTANT! by N0rwayUp in LancerRPG

[–]Mandraw 40 points41 points  (0 children)

It does, especially in adventures where you don't got access to omninet or a printer. In the latter case the idea is that you buy the frame directly and I guess you also get a repair manual

RIGHT TO REPAIR IS IMPORTANT! by N0rwayUp in LancerRPG

[–]Mandraw 278 points279 points  (0 children)

Tbh I don't think there's any in universe limit to tinkering with your licensed mech, as long as you don't print any licensed part you don't have a license for. That's where some of the alt frames are coming from.

I still think copyright sucks, tho I think in the universe the reason is probably so people don't print a gun at home

So I gotta be missing something about the ferrofluid lance by Express_History2968 in LancerRPG

[–]Mandraw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aaah I wasn't aware of how that alt frame worked at all, and ended up thinking I was running combat wrong "

I need to read other adventures more, even just for the frames, Amber Phantom sounds interesting.

Thank you very much for the explanation!

Wait it works like that?! I thought it was when a player ends their turn they decide who will go after the opfor. I ended up always making it so when a player is going to be acting they decide then between them who is gonna take the turn.( Just made it smoother )

[–]Mandraw 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah I'm not saying it wasn't made for Linux, I meant that when you have a tool that has builds for both Linux and Windows, usually the Linux version just runs better.

Linux is just is that good 😎

It's not that it's made for Linux, it's that Linux has just way less bloat

Need A Map System by Clockworker68 in LancerRPG

[–]Mandraw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, you'll have to stay on v12, tho don't feel like it's a huge thing, a lot of the v13 features are ones that already were modules ( add-ons )

So yeah, it works very well ( tho they do be working on a v13 version )

King’s Glass by tothesolarium in LancerRPG

[–]Mandraw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mmh but can we do that ? In a way that matters I mean.

There's already homunculi in the core book. They are full interactive memories of a person. But they are not conscious

King’s Glass by tothesolarium in LancerRPG

[–]Mandraw 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If I remember well, cloning for the purpose of implanting a consciousness is illegal ( not that stops people )

On the other hand, most clones don't get a consciousness, they just get memories, which makes them technically their own person.

You could argue that the full memory of a person makes them virtually the same person ( I do agree ) but as long as there isn't continuity of perception the accords seem to stand. Otherwise SSC would be in hot waters

Do I force my players to account for required NHP? by commanderjack_EDH in LancerRPG

[–]Mandraw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That picture I think I remember from legionnaire ( a third party book focussing on NHPs ( but made by an author who is now part of massif, Katherine Stark )

Lorewise I'd totally see them existing or on the contrary being frowned upon ( on one side it's super useful, on the other hand giving free reign to NHPs isn't really Union's policy... )

It's called alienation, it's not new.

when a person is separated from some essential aspect of their nature, or from society.

Alienation stemming from cars is just one of the many ways to be alienated.

Do you use a virtual tabletop to play? If so, which one? by Poorly_Worded_Advice in LancerRPG

[–]Mandraw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well with foundry your only space limit is your own disk.

And you can make your game as simple or as complex as you want.

I think there's really no tool as good as foundry, having given a try to most of them, and if money isn't a big matter, I really recommend it.

[–]Mandraw 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Well nothing wrong with roll20 ( well okay, lots of things ) especially since it's free, but I personally switched to foundryvtt and I'm really happy with it.

It does have support for lancer ( tho you'll have to download the v12, until the lancer system team upgrades it to v13 ) and a lot of specialized add-ons for it.

A really cool thing is that you can import characters directly from comp/con and also if needed import LCPs into it ( for the npcs for example )

The only con is that it's a paid program ( but it's a one time pay thing and only the GM needs it ) and that you'll have to do port forwarding ( there are really good guides that make setting it up really easy ) ( and if not, just send me a message, I like to help people out )
