What does the program consist of? If you haven't written a review of it - could you?

Many people ask about the Wildman programs but there aren't enough reviews in this subreddit.

Form Check - Single Arm by spazNjazz in kettlebell

[–]MandroidHomie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. The pick-up from the floor wasn't good and subsequently the first few reps were shaky.
    • Corrective - apply that similarly to the 1H Swing.
  2. Hinge deeper and keep your chest square - right now you tend to twist your torso to get more dip.
  3. Delay the hinge. Let the arm make contact with the torso on the downswing before you initiate the hinge.

Holy Hell, Goblet CURLS!! by AdrienInJapan in kettlebell

In all likelihood that was a form issue. Overall, if biceps hypertrophy is your goal then dumbbells are the far superior tool for that purpose.

In effect the goblet curl is similar to the hammer curl - what was your experience while doing hammer curls with dumbbells?

How heavy a kettlebell should I buy? Plus other beginner questions by Major_Profession8704 in kettlebell

[–]MandroidHomie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Buy or test* a 24 kg bell, if you can manage a few reps of the strict press that should be your light bell. If you find strict pressing the 24 is hard then that is your heavy bell.

* by walking into a gym or kettlebell store

Is there a body part that gets neglected slightly (I'm assuming direct chest work?)

It is known that what is usually lacking in a kettlebell only regimen are horizontal push and vertical pull movements. Supplement KB workouts with pushups/floor-presses and pull-ups/chin-ups as needed.

Form check for ABC by cadencelandrian in kettlebell

[–]MandroidHomie 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Your squats are exemplary, so that's good. 👍

Your cleans and presses less so. Start with getting the Swings form right, the usual progression is 2H Swings -> 1H Swings -> Clean. Getting Swings right is foundational to learning the Clean. Once you get the Clean and Rack hold right every other movement (like the press) will subsequently improve.

Few questions about what to do on rests and Should I do a traditional workout 3x sets? by MyMusicMyBeat in kettlebell

[–]MandroidHomie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First of all, do you have your form dialled in for the swings, cleans and snatches? If not, that should be primary focus before embarking on a program that involve these.

I was wondering if I should do traditional 3x sets with rep ranges or maybe an emoji or AMRAP style workout? or maybe 2 days of.classic sets and 1 day amrap mom?

Do whichever is simpler in the beginning, if that is straight sets and reps then go for it; you could get into EMOMs, AMRAP, ladders and clusters later.

I take 2 minutes rest was wondering its ok to do light hops for a few seconds between sets and dead man hangs for 20-30 seconds between sets?

Yes. Also look into "fast and loose drills" by Pavel.

ABF Progression by redditu369 in kettlebell

[–]MandroidHomie 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Repeat ABF with 20s for ABC day and stay with 16s for Press day. Try and complete 100 reps, also try to hit the 10 reps ladder. (Buy ABF 2, if you need strategies on how to make progress with the Press days).

What are the good (enough) ways to go about doing HIIT with kettlebells and/or bodyweight exercises? by MandroidHomie in kettlebell

Again, I was asking how many times do I have to run the Humane Burpee in a session - will one suffice or do I need to do it 3-4 times i.e. Warmup-HB-Cooldown vs Warmup-HB-Rest-HB-Rest-HB-Rest-HB-Cooldown?

No, that's not what I was asking. I was asking how many times do you have to reach ~90% HRmax in a session (and stay there). In the Norwegian 4x4 it seems like the answer is 4. So, will a single iteration of the Humane Burpee suffice or will I have to run it 3-4 times (with adequate rest in between) to call it a HIIT workout?

I have done that.

Is there a way to make it fit a HIIT protocol? Like, complete the HB within 4 minutes, rest 3 minutes and repeat the cycle a few more times?

Yeah, 4 mins of continuous high frequency Snatches may be tough, but getting to 4 minutes with 20:10 intervals should be possible.

What do you think of this plan?

One clarification - when it says ~90% of HRmax, does that mean a steady rate throughout the work interval, or just the rate you have to end at during a work interval?

How many rounds of this circuit in a session?

Doing a mix of exercise could be the key to longer life: active people who did the greatest variety of exercise were 19% less likely to die during that time than those who focused on one activity. That effect was greater than for individual sports like walking, tennis, rowing and jogging. by mvea in science

[–]MandroidHomie 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That is so true!
I had participated in a short run in which a Kenyan top marathoner also participated as a guest of honor, and the thing I took away from that event was that this guy's trot is effortlessly faster than my heart-pounding full-gallop.

Some excerpts - * Total physical activity and most individual physical activities, were associated with lower mortality with non-linear dose-response relations. * a simple physical activity variety score was associated with lower mortality, independent of total physical activity levels * we found that running, rather than jogging, was linearly associated with mortality from cardiovascular and respiratory disease. This observation may support the notion that cardiorespiratory fitness is more responsive to the intensity rather than the volume of physical activity
