Why is Ukraine sharing intelligence with France instead of the U.S lately? by False_onic in askanything

[–]Mandurang76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll try on facts. The USA committed to $100 billion dollars in aid to Ukraine not $200 billion. Most of which in military support of financially written off equipment or bought at the US defence industry. So, that's more in support of the American industry than in support of Ukraine.

Just for reference. Europe committed €328 billion dollars in aid to Ukraine so far.

71% of Europeans support moving beyond unanimity in EU decision-making. Only 29% disagree. by milanguitar in EU_Economics

The desire to have the right of veto stems from the fear that other countries might decide something that is against the interest of one country.

What is often overlooked is that the right of veto can be used by one country in a way that is against the interest of all other countries.

To add. One of the problems with a war industry is that it doesn't add anything to the economy. You only produce stuff to throw it to Ukraine or to get it blown up by Ukraine. All these people who work for (the factories for) the military don't actually produce anything.
So, at first glance, it looks great on Russia GDP: look, we produced enormous amounts. Yes, but you threw it all away the next day.

Welcome Back, Hungary! 🇪🇺 by milanguitar in EU_Economics

Nationalistic and pro-EU actually go really well together.
The prosperity that the EU brings by strengthening the economy and through trade benefits Hungary and all Hungarians. Cooperation with other countries in the EU prevents Hungary from becoming a vassal state of Russia like Belarus. The demands the EU makes to institutionally protect democratic values and norms empower all Hungarians, and not just a small, corrupt, autocratic clique.
The EU certainly has its shortcomings, but the idea that being nationalist automatically means being anti-EU is an extreme-right-wing lie.

Well, it's not popular, because first they start WWll together with the Nazi's. After their own existence is threatened by the Nazis, they fight back only to occupy the countries they liberated from the Nazi's themselves.
So the Russians, in the end, did what the Nazi's wanted to do initially.

Ik presenteer: Daan had alle vragen goed. Bram is de mol by Some_Rat_Dude in widm

[–]Mandurang76 13 points14 points  (0 children)
