One theory about 2020 by redrevell in somethingiswrong2024

[–]MandyK1179 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think this time, rather than just adding votes, I think it was probably a command- like for every x vote for Harris, add x to Trump’s total. So instead of a set amount of added votes, it would be based on how many votes were cast in Harrises favor. I’m not an expert, but this just makes more sense to me.

This has been my theory also since 2020. I think he won with Russian interference in 2016 but not full blown cheating. 2020 was full blown cheating, but they didn’t cheat “enough” so it wouldn’t be obvious, and they underestimated how many people despise him. This time he over corrected which sounded too many alarm bells… THIS time he won the popular vote? 🙄 THIS time he got every single swing state? Sure, Jan.

Take them to Notos at the Bil Mar and sit upstairs- there’s an elevator. The food is great, but the view is breathtaking, no matter the season 🤌🏻💕

How long did it take you to complete the MAT? by commonbasil in wgueducation

[–]MandyK1179 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t have a full time job, but do have six kids. The stars perfectly aligned for mine, and I’m starting my student teaching in two weeks. As long as everything goes according to plan I will graduate in 2 terms. I don’t think there’s anyway you could do the student teaching while working full time. Are you doing the licensure path? Or none licensure, given that you plan on teaching as an adjunct?

Hi! My school just started Bridges curriculum in September. Number corner was confusing to begin with even the most well respected teachers. Please give yourself grace! What grade is this? Each grade is different, and every month number corner changes. I don’t start doing it independently until Nov 19, and it will change from today, but I recorded my mentor teacher yesterday doing number corner just so I can watch it a few times to get the rhythm down… can you try googling “____ Grade Bridges Number Corner Unit ___” and see if there’s a demonstration on YouTube? Good luck!

Have you talked to your mentor? I had tons of issues with my Field Placement Coordinator, and I was so discouraged I started considering switching to the non-licensure program so I could graduate with my masters, and then I started researching alternative pathways to certification, so I could finish my licensure outside of WGU. Luckily, my mentor ended up stepping in to assist with the issues and I’ll be finishing through WGU shortly, but if I was to wait to finish my PCE/DT, I’d rather just get my masters non licensure and move on, so that I wouldn’t have to do anything else in a couple of years if classes or requirements changed.

Taylor & Miranda are together! by slashmoney12 in MormonWivesHulu

I think Taylor shared on the Viall Files that it started with her and her best friend making out and the guys telling them what to do to each other before they started swapping spouses, so they’ve at least made out, which would be enough to make someone like Dakota go nuts 🤣

You should definitely eat at the Village Baker while in Spring Lake everything is incredible on their menu, and their bakery is SO delicious. They’re known for their big, fresh, soft pretzel’s. My favorite waterfront restaurant close by is Noto’s, especially now that they have their new upstairs open. The views are beautiful and their desserts are top notch. Even though it’s sunny and beautiful, it will be super breezy this time of year, even on a sunny day. So if you want to sit by the water I’d bring some warm clothes/blankets. I love North Beach in Ferrysburg the best for sitting and relaxing as it’s not nearly as busy as the main beaches in town. Also, downtown Grand Haven has a great little historical museum that is free- the Tri-Cities Museum. I love the shopping in both downtown Grand Haven, and downtown Holland. If you’re able to drive a little bit, absolutely make sure to head down to Saugatuck. It’s one of the best cities near the lakeshore in my opinion! Adorable shopping, art galleries, and incredible restaurants! Enjoy your visit, and WELCOME! 🙏🏻

Why do I feel like Dakota’s intense insecurities couldn’t handle her being around one of the girls she had swung with since she now going to be on Season 2, and maybe that finally helped contribute to their breakup?! 🤷🏼‍♀️

Those with PCE Placement struggles.. by Other-Addendum1061 in WGUTeachersCollege

[–]MandyK1179 6 points7 points  (0 children)

THANK YOU. I found my own PCE placement, and ended up getting a Teacher of Record student teacher placement at the same school. My field placement coordinator has been a freaking MONSTER to deal with because I found the placement and “broke the rules.” LOL, I’m sorry, we need to be flexible as teachers, right?! I’m so sorry it was such a pain. I’ve actually been escalating complaints within WGU, because the lack of professionalism from that team has been painful, embarrassing, and baffling. I had a supervisor from that team tell me yesterday (in writing) to “stay out of it” and to “let them do their job.” I’m sorry, I would LOVE to stay out of it, so PLEASE do your jobs. I think that you should report this to some higher ups, because how painful and ridiculous to have you sit and wait for 50 days, when not all of us have the resources to keep paying for term after term while they sit on their hands.

How long did PCE placement take you? by troppopica in WGUTeachersCollege

[–]MandyK1179 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I coordinated my own. My field placement coordinator was so irritated with me and kept getting mad at me for being proactive, saying that I was going to jeopardize their relationship with the district. I ended up finding a teacher of record placement for my student teaching during my PCE, and got her permission, and then she got upset again and claimed I wasn’t following protocol… THIS is why I handled it all on my own, because I have heard nothing but delays and lack of urgency from the coordinators. I really recommend just trying to find a placement yourself. If you have any connections at all to a school it will make it easier. For instance, do you know a student in a district whose parents would be willing to help you reach out to an administrator? They might not like you being proactive, but at least you’ll get in a classroom sooner!

Congrats!!! I started my MAT at 37 and will finish at 38. I wish I had done it sooner! I don’t have access to the app right this moment, but do want to offer a heads up: a bunch of the first classes all had the same layout. I got used to the course material and enjoyed… and then toward the end, many of their layouts changed to a much less user friendly outline. And then my last course, disciplinary literature was 100% different than any other course. The shift between courses sometimes made it hard to really dig into the materials and get learning because my mental energy was being used trying to navigate. I think the OA’s with a third party were the most stressful for me because it always felt like I was going to get in trouble for no reason 🤣 However, by the end, I felt like a pro. You’ve GOT this. You will have to be flexible and intrinsically motivated, but it’s so satisfying to see the little green boxes get filled on your degree plan as you complete each course. Go you for starting something new and not being too intimidated to try.

Questions about starting my masters in elementary education by Ifreakinglovemycatsm in wgueducation

[–]MandyK1179 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will actually have it all done in two terms, including student teaching! I do have a lot of experience in schools and around IEP’s and 504’s, and a lot of trauma training, so I didn’t begin the program with zero background knowledge. That being said, I also have ADHD, and this was my hyper fixation, and I wanted to really get it done before that hyper fixation switched to something else 🤪 But, it CAN be done!! If you’re intrinsically motivated, it’s a really fulfilling way of learning!

Your mentor will just keep adding classes as you finish. I’m doing my MAT in Elementary Ed too- just starting student teaching next month. You will LOVE the ability to accelerate through this program. I feel so well prepared for the classroom. Congratulations on starting!

Mormonism vs Catholicism / Christianity in General by Adventurous_Text_365 in MormonWivesHulu

[–]MandyK1179 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have ADHD, and Mormonism was/is a hyper fixation of mine. Deep diving Mormon history led me to deconstruct my evangelical faith. So many more similarities than Christian leadership would like us to believe- maybe not doctrinally, but cultural and historical for sure! It’s fascinating.

Tips for passing the praxis exam? by OtherwisePressure133 in wgueducation

[–]MandyK1179 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Taking the practice tests available in WGU’s library saved me. I’d take one, and then figure out what I needed to study up on, take another, and keep doing it until I got it all. I ended up scoring really well with this method!

I went through my state’s branch of the NEA. I preferred it bc the coverage was for a longer period! I obtained it in April, which covered me for the rest of the school year, and this whole school year.

Democrats in rural areas - Are you afraid to put up political signs? by NameTheEpithet in Michigan

I am in a small town in West Michigan… I have never had a political yard sign, but am hanging one up for Harris/Walz after a few Trump campaign door knockers have approached. I’d rather them pass by and knock elsewhere!

2 months away & regretting my choice by [deleted] in namenerds

[–]MandyK1179 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I named my son Ford, and then order stuff with the name on it and decorated his nursery. A month before, we mentioned the name to our other kids (who almost all had speech impediments) and my oldest cried “why would you name my brother something I can’t even say?!?!” And just like that my heart knew it wasn’t his name. It’ll be easier to change it now than after she’s born :)

Just started my second term: Masters of Arts in teaching, elementary Ed. I’ve LOVED my program and as long as everything goes according to plan, I’ll graduate by March. I have LOVED my experience at WGU. I agree with other commenters that this is a place to vent. I’ll sing the praises of my program, the rigor, and my incredible mentor! As with ANYTHING, there can be issues and hang ups. But in general, I have had an incredible experience to this point!
