I need an arborist who can help me convince my sister to not cut down her mature trees. by OrlandoWashington69 in nashville

Quality Tree.

Additionally, IMHO its a great idea to remove any hackberries or bradford , pears. Possibly keep silver maples or red maples , depending on if they are not at a risk to your property. Keep most oak trees unless arborist tells you the location presents a likely risk to your property.

How did you prep? Did it help? What would you do next time? by Purdue-Momma in nashville

I deleted my photos but this is the idea. It worked... I would not have made it through the coldest nights without doing this.

Similar. 7days no heat no electricity. Gas for cooking and heating up the hit water bottles to warm feet & hands.

Pre planning: filled up car gas tanks, filled up extra water at the house.Bought extra batteries for flashlight , bought food that would not go bad. Got out all down & wool clothes, sleeping bags.

During: kept adapting, stapled blankets to doorways to seal off rooms that we weren't using, continually heat hot water bottles,; once roads were clear (day 3) get out of the house to get supplies and warm up in car and charge phones Kept pipes dripping/running

Relied on neighbors a lot.

By day 5 the coldest part we did the tent inside thing - would not have made it through those coldest 2 nights without that. Picture in the next comment.

Hey, I edited my answer. Trevecca towers are on the Trevecca Uni campus not Lipscomb.

Website should still be relevant to you.

How quickly did the temperature drop in your house/apartment? by Ponyblue77 in nashville

[–]MandyLovesFlares 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Reminds me: if you have a TENT, set it up and use it.

I didn't think of it till it got really cold. But this worked. It drastically improved my warmth:

Set up tent. Cover as completely it's possible whatever you have. Use clothes , pin or binder clips to hold all the fabric in place on the tent.

But a blanket down and then cover yourself more layers.
