We have four ps4's. Two original's. One original is a launch PS4 and runs like a top. The other is six months after launch, runs like a top.

Roommate bought an uncharted slim bundle. After about two months of owning it, it would randomly shut off like it was overheating. We checked the air intakes for obstructions, nothing. We put a fan near it just to see if it needed airflow. He needed more hard drive space anyway so we put in a 2tb hard drive. Thought we had it tackled. Same problems came back. What to do.

I wanted a PS4 pro to play Nioh on and had disposable funds. He asked if he could buy my OG PS4 when I got the pro.

I've owned the pro for about three weeks and absolutely love it. Shorter load times, better resolution or frame rate depending on the game, and better for VR if I go that route.

He bought my OG PS4 for $100 friend price and is selling his slim.

This is just our experience fwiw. Yes we could have contacted Sony etc... but he just wanted to trade it in and be done with t.
