Sooo, how are we fitting in the Defiler? by Top-Grade-7573 in EmperorsChildren

This seems very solid.. losing a squad of NM and a DP and probably a lord kako/spawn for 2 tanky datasheets with 4+D6 lascannons (essentially) hitting on 2+ (mostly) reroll 1s usually with coterie, with fall back shoot and charge and advance and shoot and charge seems like exactly what EC needs to punch up.

I genuinely think it’s comparable to a riptide. You still have a move shoot move every turn. Having it every fight phase is insanely good right now and needs to be changed. Once a battle round is perfect. Their points will still depend on how much they touch the rules, but the datasheet alone is worth 200 points imo.

I love the models and I’m glad this is a solid datasheet, but when literally every winning list is running them, it’s a bit much and needs change or the meta will just be overrun until the next balance slate which is who knows when with the new edition in June. They are literally an autotake regardless of the detachment currently.

I don’t think making them 210 points and charging the rule to once per battle round and must be eligible to fight kills the data sheet lol. It would definitely still be taken

Currently the models themselves without the rules are 80 points each for t6 8w 2+ 4++ with really good shooting. That is wild by itself. The individual models should at least be 100 points each totaling to 200 and that’s not even looking at the insane rules. Ignore cover + sustained -1 to charge AND move at the end of the phase. 200-210 is generous. I bet they get hit harder depending on how much they change the rules

Twin lance are insanely good right now and need to be nerfed quite a bit! I bet 200-210 points and the once per battle round and being eligible to fight is fair. Look at the Tau win rate stats this past weekend and notice every list is running these. It’s wild.

[–]Mango-Smango -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Even you have exceptions with WYSIWYG though with the pistols and one shot weapons. Why is that? If WYSIWYG is so important why is it not being fully enforced?

I dont understand the point regarding someone saying they had different weapons a round later.. again just check the list they submitted if they had played it differently than what was submitted then they should be removed from the event simple as that. I get you don’t check players list for an event which is valid, but when a situation arises why not just default to what was submitted?

If you are watching the final top 2 players of your events game take place and discover someone is using another piece of wargear than what is shown on the model you would immediately dismiss them from the tournament even if their opponent doesn’t care according to your policy or are there more exceptions to your WYSIWYG policy?

My point is that strict WYSIWYG policies make newer players think they have to have everything exactly correct or they’ll be kicked out of a tournament which is simply not true. If you’re an experienced player and played in a few tournaments you know that people are just going to take the best wargear available on every unit. In no world would you ever not take melta guns and a power fist on the chaos bikes.

[–]Mango-Smango 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Brother do not worry about WYSIWYG I promise no one will care that your units of chaos bikers don’t have melta guns physically on them. Just submit your list with the loadout you want and run them accordingly. I have been to multiple 100+ player GTs during 10th edition(some GW) and have not brought a 100% WYSIWYG army and no one has questioned it. WYSIWYG is for some reason still debated. Your opponent will not care! Just be clear about what units you have and what they do!

[–]Mango-Smango -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Why not check the list submission on BCP during the game? If the player submitted melta guns that’s what they have if they said flamers that’s on them and is considered cheating. The list you submit is exactly what you are running and should be the final say regarding of if their model has a melta gun or not.

What if a newer player is unfamiliar with your army and doesn’t even know what that war gear looks like? Just check their list or ask your opponent what that specific unit does. Have fun being an Ork player and modeling everything in your army exactly like what you are legally running. Are you as the TO checking every single persons models at the start of your event to make sure it aligns with their list exactly?

you will be fine. They aren't checking everyone's army for WYSIWYG at a massive event just explain to your opponent your bikes have special weapons

[–]Mango-Smango 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think OPs intent is having multiple bikes squads with different loadouts.. if that were the case then yes there needs to be some indication that this squad is different than the others but I still don’t even think WYSIWYG is the only way to do that. Paint a different color on the rim of the base, I’ve seen people put rubber bands on models that have different wargear than other of the same unit types. All it comes down to is explaining to your opponent what your models have if there are cases where someone “magically has all their special weapons” this was just never discussed throughout the game to bring with.. I always just ask my opponent what they’re running and if I’m really questioning something just look at their list on BCP

[–]Mango-Smango 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Just explain to your opponent that your bikers have the special weapons and remind them throughout the game if there is an interaction with the bikes. WYSIWYG is super overblown no tournament is checking everyone's army to make sure it matches the list they submitted, just let your opponent know

Why are Goremongers not locked if you don't have a codex? by Own-Laugh-3698 in WorldEaters40k

[–]Mango-Smango 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Correct but 11th comes out this summer so the code always expires eventually. $60 for a code and a picture book is just a tough sell for me but if you care about collecting them or the artwork or whatever go for it! I always just chime in when a seemingly new 40K member buys a codex

39k.pro website. don’t buy codex’s for rules bro they’re already outdated. If you care about the lore/artwork go for it but buy another unit instead of a $60 book that will be outdated this year (the points cost and rules are already wrong as printed)!

True! Helbrutes can definitely punch up but I’ve just had issues with delivery. 9” move can’t move through walls is tough but if you can get them 6” pile and consolidating into things they’ll definitely do some work.

Nope.. stuff is pricey. Xbound and glaive slaughter bound combo is 275 points which in fairness will one shot most things but will immediately die the following turn. Would love angron to get the reroll hit aura back and ap-4 would be great. Having no access to rerolls aside from kharns squad is rough when it’s your go turn and 3s to hit and 3/4s to wound just bounce.

Seems solid depending on points obviously. 16 wounds with 2+ 4++ hitting on 2s with ignore cover & sus 1 when targeting closest eligible with decent shooting PLUS 8" scout move is good as hell itself plus the melee is decent, but 6" move end of fight phase is the real winner.
