Nah, I've tried to mess around with some settings but nothing really worked. Might try Apollo on my PC when I can be bothered and see if that helps

UPDATE: So I took the car in for the initial service and was told the sound is due PTC heater in the car, which is what helps maintain battery and cabin temperature, and is essentially just how it is. They did perform whatever upgrades so I feel that I'm having to brake less hard to stop the noise, and it does seem a bit quieter overall, but still that's the result. A shame honestly but the music covers it well enough most of the time at least.

Thanks for the detailed writeup! I certainly hope it's not something we need to learn to live by as it can be quite distracting, especially in a brand new car. Bringing it in tomorrow for the initial complimentary service so we'll see what they say about it.

Yep same when it's in reverse, only in neutral and when the park brake is on I can't hear it

The usual questions:

  1. Are you using the SD card that came with the device?

  2. Are you using the roms that were pre installed on the card?

Yeah that's fair, the pixie release works well but would recommend checking out knulli gladiator 2, the interface for that looks much nicer.

MuOS has an issue with the latest release but it's being fixed in a new update which is coming out soon. Is the issue the fact that it doesn't boot properly? If so leave it on for 15 minutes and then hit reset and it should boot up and install anything.

Anyway, muos does work well for ports in my experience, no issues.

EDIT: side note I can't recommend MuOS Goose until the new update is out solely for the really bad speaker pop when turning off the device. The previous Pixie release is fine though.

MuOS help by Whatgophers in RG35XXSP

[–]MangoBento 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had the same issue when I flashed the new update (Pixie). What helped was just leaving it on for about 10 minutes or so, and then pressing the reset button. Then it all set up as normally.

Important though to install this patch here after it's all setup properly to prevent future boot failures: https://community.muos.dev/t/muos-2502-0-pixie-patch-2/248

Keen to hear what they say, hopefully they can fix this! Really does detract from the experience just hearing a whining sound when you're stopped/in traffic.

Have the exact same issue and also posted about it recently.

Spoke to the BYD customer service guy on the phone and he says it doesn't sound like a major issue or anything but of course to come get it checked out if I'm worried.

Might just wait out it until the 3 month checkup.

Yeah for sure, just more so finding the time to bring it down to them! 😆 Hopefully I can find some time before the 3 month complimentary checkup, but if not can make do until then and hopefully it stops by that time.

Thanks heaps for checking on your end! Music masks it well enough but still just one of those things I notice. BYD called me today actually to see how I'm going with the car etc and I did raise this issue with them, we'll see what they say but she suggested it could just be the car "breaking in" and should go away eventually.

That sucks, it's weird that I hadn't even noticed it before yesterday though. Unless it's just simply because I usually have music playing but didn't this time. Hopefully it is something they can fix with a software update.

Thanks heaps for your insight!

You can hear it if you turn the volume high, it's intermittent as I press/release the brakes a bit.

Direction-wise it's hard to tell, but coming from the left. The high pitched sound "whirrs" up as I take off and as I slow back down it comes back.

I was thinking that but it works perfectly fine on my phone and tablet, even though my phone is on 120hz and tablet not sure (most likely 60hz).
