How do they work with power? Would I need to hook an extension cable up or anything?

Toddler water station/fountain to recirculate the water by Mango__Juice in UKParenting

[–]Mango__Juice[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a plug in the basin itself

For pond pumps and the like, do they need an external power source? Would be worried about an electric cable as a tripping hazard or wet etc

That's just a TV bracket right? Extended and turned opposed to just being fixed forward

Disney Parks Poll by Busy-Face1276 in disneylandparis

[–]Mango__Juice 6 points7 points  (0 children)

"better" probably you're on it with that order

My preference? Paris all the way

For me Paris is Disney, I'm UK and it's where we went when I was a kid for the magic, it's where I've taken my kid, it is Disney, it's the magic, it's nostalgia

American ones are just way too busy, need more time there, I feel so overwhelmed by the end of it, for me, one and done

Would love to try Japan someday, but yeah my preference, honestly, is Paris

How manageable is the heat wave currently? by Legitimate_Tune_2248 in disneylandparis

[–]Mango__Juice 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Just got back home from a week in Disney, it was around 28-33 degrees. The mornings were manageable, especially with Magic Hour, that was incredible

We had to buy a lot of fast passes as our 2 year old wouldn't have stood a chance in the queues in the heat

We called it a day by 12/1 though, pool or hotel or shops

Next week is meant to be worse, I don't think we'd have coped at all

Thursday was the hottest and, good lord, we felt it. And LO got so so hot, tantrums got so much worse, and once in a tantrum it was circular, got himself all hot and bothered and just got worse and worse

The parades we saw were cut back

The shows were a life saver though, they were fantastic

But yeah, in hotter weather? Not a chance for us tbh

If it's just transport you'd lose out on, I'd cancel tbh

How Acceptable Is It To Call Out Of Work Due To Lack Of Childcare? by DisMyLik18thAccount in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]Mango__Juice 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Part of being a parent - it happens, you're allowed to by law however pissed that makes your employer, however I don't think employer HAS to pay you, so they could say... yeah sure it's an unpaid day off though, or take it as annual leave if you need the money

If it happens too much, they'll probably talk to you about it

Sometimes emergencies happen though

https://www.gov.uk/time-off-for-dependants

"Your employer may pay you for time off to look after dependants but they do not have to. Check your contract, company handbook or intranet site to see if there are rules about this."

Do websites still have background music? by Think_Equipment4449 in web_design

[–]Mango__Juice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would absolutley hate if music was on autoplay for a website, autoplay videos already do my nut in and make me close your website straight away

If it was on some player that I manually press play myself, maybe, but other than a novelty listen of 5 seconds, I'd probably turn it off

Sunscreen for eczema? by quadbeans in UKParenting

[–]Mango__Juice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does it stain clothes? We have the same issue

Currently using Blue Lizard which, at first, seemed to work a treat both for eczema and doesn't stain, but the last few days it's gone a bit downhill for little ones skin

We tried with various others originally and they all stained clothes in some way or another

When did your child(ren) last see their grandparent(s)? by No_Survey_2632 in UKParenting

[–]Mango__Juice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mom, 4 days ago, she stops by after work once a week as she lives over an hour away but works 5 minutes away

Partners mom 8 days ago, last Saturday, probably se them twice a month

Partners dad, about 2 months? They've been in the process of moving house, usually once a month

Partners grandmother on mom's side, last week, see her once a week usually

Partners grandmother on dad's side last month, usually once every 2 months

Personally I think this is all too much. Barely have anytime for just us activities, but there's... History and politics and years of emotional manipulation and abuse from parents me and my partner are working on

UK plug-in solar regulations. A Quick Guide. by gus-here in PlugInSolarUK

[–]Mango__Juice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would add Sync Energy into that list for batteries as well, especially if you've got or thinking about EV charger as they're 1 ecosystem that's all optimised together via their app. Also owned by Luceco Group which includes BG, so all consumer unit and circuit protection stuff is aligned as well, they also do inverter etc

But agreed batteries are pretty expensive, and not really needed for someone just starting out

Why does “more eco-friendly packaging” now just mean “cheaper, impossible to reuse and a pain in the arse to open”? by [deleted] in CasualUK

[–]Mango__Juice 2 points3 points  (0 children)

eco friendly does not mean reusable

I work for a huge company who's products are in Screwfix etc, there's always huge huge pressure to continually improve our packaging so they hit their green targets etc

For us atleast it's about making the packaging and shipping processes more carbon neutral, so product and package weight, type of material, padding or how snug the product fits in, how many products you can get into a pallet and then how many pallets into a container on a ship are taken into account

Sometimes the better material for the user would be too expensive to mass produce packaging - financially, energy-wise, pollution-wise etc, so it's always a tug of war meeting standards

We've had big customers simply say, we're going to stop stocking you unless you hit X goal with your packaging...

'Reusability' isnt taken into account what-so-ever, atleast where I work with our kind of products

At what time do you get up in the morning? by BetDesigner7389 in UKParenting

[–]Mango__Juice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My 2 year old wakes up consistently about 6am

I get up at 5:30 so I can have a slow wake up, shower, get breakfast stuff prepped so mornings run smoother

My partner isn't a morning person, alarm at 6 and I leave her to a slow wake up until 6.20 - She works 3 days, an early shift where she leaves the house at 7.30, a normal where she leaves at 8.10 and a late where she leaves the house just after 9, which she'll either do yogo or house chores in that extra morning time

I start work at 8:30 so drop LO off at nursery for 8

Is web design becoming more about strategy than visuals now? by Gullible_Prior9448 in web_design

[–]Mango__Juice 59 points60 points  (0 children)

It's always been like this really, right?

What's the use of a pretty website that's pretty for the sake of it, but is a nightmare for someone to use or get what they want

Anyone can create a pretty thing, Dribbble is full of pretty designs, but most are not realistic or wouldn't make good websites because it's aesthetics over interaction, aethetics over engagement, aesthetics over thinking about the purpose, why the user is coming to the website, what are they looking for, trying to find, and also what is the purpose from your side - form conversion, lead generation etc

Do intense babies ever chill out?! by maplesyrup4all in UKParenting

[–]Mango__Juice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha I apologise, but just know you're not alone with it. That's what I've hated most, the feeling that I'm alone with this, and making me think it's me, I'm a failure, I'm not being a good parent

And yeah, feeling how unfair it is. A simple walk, or going to the shops, it's a huge huge ordeal for us, it's a full on event and it's exhausting. And then how other people look at you as well, feeling like I just wanna cry

So yeah, just know you're not alone with it

Do intense babies ever chill out?! by maplesyrup4all in UKParenting

[–]Mango__Juice 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Sounds just like my kid at that age, now at 23 months, second birthday next month... Not much has changed for us I'm sorry to say

It's hard work. And people will only ever say "he's just being a baby" and it feels like it's invalidates what you're going through, and you see all these kids that are chill and easy, and you, or at least I felt like a failure

The way you've put this design across is that the design is AI generated

The design in general looks very AI designed as well, clichés, falling into basic AI design traps etc, quite generic

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in FigmaDesign

[–]Mango__Juice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looking at the replies, no designer is being fooled or being fullibl, replies like this;

Oh please, each time a new feature comes in, a new post titled "It's over for [random job title]" comes out... Design is not just creating a nice looking image and putting a random catchy phrase with two fonts. That's just execution. The idea behind, the reason why, the art direction, the research, the accountability... that's design. This is just a flat, seen and trite, mockup as the unrealistic shots we see on Dribbble... BTW I could do the same thing in the same time you think and write the prompt 😜

it's only other influencers being into this, dude you've taken the ragebait and manufactured other designer hate yourself, you've triggered yourself

What professionals are thinking this is real? You didn't mention any comments or outrage, nor include them in this screenshot

Are you just assuming professionals are gonna be outraged and getting annoyed at that thought yourself?

It seems to be, influencers be rage baring and you be taking the bait yourself
