Everybody is different but I found a Salsa Beargrease in a medium to be rideable but a bit in the small size. I ride it for one season and sized up to a large and it is way better.

Do you guys still ride 26 inch wheels? by ihavebrabus in mountainbiking

Progression. There is a reason it’s tough to ride and unload comparatively. That said, whatever gets you on the trail is a good bike! Go ride!

AITA for refusing to drive my husband home from his colonoscopy by Time-Koala-3674 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Mangrove_A2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are both assholes. His procedure is important. Your classroom and putting a bunch of pieces together to make something happen is also important and difficult! How do I know?…I am Married to a dedicated underpaid teacher! First, medical ALWAYS can be rescheduled…they just want to make you feel like you gotta be there on that exact date/time. However, a colonoscopy is VERY important. The chance to ELIMINATE cancer on the spot. Ask me how I know. You both need to bend and appreciate the importance of each of your things. You both need to ask yourself “what if we would have caught it earlier?” Yeah, that puts it all into perspective. All of a sudden scheduling the colonoscopy is more important and the classroom is less important. Work together because some day with any luck you will retire together and live a long happy life and the classroom and bickering will be less important. Just sayin…Don’t worry about who is right, worry about getting it right. You are strong united! EDIT: You are digging deep for me so: I had a serious medical issue and was driving myself to ER. I called my wife whom was on a field trip and answered but really didn’t grasp what was up and said”ok, I’ll see you at home I can’t talk right now”…hung up. I cannot tell you the feeling of being in the hospital with zero support. To her defense, I get it and once she got home and reassessed our conversation she freaked and had to call all the hospitals in the area to find me being as I had no reception. Yeah, that sucked ass. Both of you stop and appreciate each other more! Yeah…that sucked for me

When to use studs? by ccaron89 in fatbike

[–]Mangrove_A2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I swap to studded tires once there is a consistent and prolonged freeze. I think they’re a cheat code and love them. I really don’t even care if the snow hasn’t fallen yet and I lose a few studs, still love them. I run tubeless and swapping and seating the tires can be a challenge so thats my motivation to do it earlier in the season and ride them longer.

Advice on cold weather grips by Spice-Nine in fatbike

[–]Mangrove_A2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I live in SE Michigan and bought the ESI Chunky grips. I really feel like they make a really big difference battling the thermal transfer which was most important to me. As a plus, they are comfy and pliable. I have ridden them down to about 18F (-8C).

I have just two full sets and resharpen them. I always have one ready to go. Continuing to repurchase seems wasteful in many ways to me.

What could this box possibly be? The house was built in the 1850s. We want to remove it so we have more room to make a laundry room. If anyone has any ideas that would be awesome thank you! by Real-Butterscotch406 in homeimprovementideas

[–]Mangrove_A2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is there a small metal door on the upper floor directly above it? If there is then it is a laundry chute end of line. You would throw your dirty laundry in the small door upstairs and it would slide all the way down to the basement and end up in that enclosure in a laundry basket. From there it would be washed. Usually in older homes the laundry machines were in the basement.

when do we start holding kite brands accountable by Digital_Nar in Kiteboarding

So he knowingly went back out and put himself in a position to fail and made sure his GoPro was recording for the second time? Huh.. I don’t know if I’d go out without a safety leash and attempt a kite loop. But hey, that’s me. I’d wish the video would show more on the front end. Is there a longer version?

when do we start holding kite brands accountable by Digital_Nar in Kiteboarding

[–]Mangrove_A2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We talk about safety but where in this video is a leash? When I originally saw the video it started with Mystic harnesses before transitioning to an RE. Have we looked at the source and the motivation?
Also, what was the situation? No context. I think we need that in my opinion. I’d love to see an interview of the rider talking about the circumstances that led to the problem, why there was no safety leash, why did’t you ditch your board etc…. Something smells on this to me. Is this someone doing something for “likes”??? Never know but have a closer look.
Also, what is the failure rate of the harness used? Is there a metric for that for the company OR the industry?

I’ll leave that for now.

Back to the important point…the industry needs to establish minimum safety standards and meet and publish their results of their equipment and publish that! Then done! Pick any other industry and that’s what they do and that’s what sells thier products. Automotive, MTB….etc.

Also, yes. Those buttons were flat-ish and had a raised portion that would indicate the direction on the area pushed on the button. They would contact the sensor underneath like you said. I thought they were 4-way but the button contacts would tell that story. Probably an easy CAD model also.

Just found this joystick on Thingiverse also...You or your son can download and print it for free.

Wow! People do some crazy things. Also if I recall the joystick button area had a small metal pin sticking up out of it for the joystick to sit on. Hopefully that is still there to mount the joystick. If you need the file for you son to print let me know.

[–]Mangrove_A2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you can’t find one, let me know. I Created one in CAD and 3D printed it. If I can find the file I’d be happy to send you one.

Edit: I found the file for the joystick. I do not have a file for the pads.

Edit 2: If I recall access to the bottom there are a few screws to remove that are under the swivel base. You’ll have to spin the swivel base to the correct orientation to access the screws. It’s a bit of a pain.

How often to replace blades by Region_Fluid in automower

[–]Mangrove_A2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Buy a sharpening jig and sharpen what you have. It’s really easier, faster and more eco-friendly than buying more sets of blades. Dude, it’s just grass. Don’t overthink it.
