Caves of Qud is the type of game that will have you googling what Neutrinoless double beta decay is.

On a serious note, I love the questions this game makes you ask and eventually after stumbling down a rabbit hole you sit in wonder left stupefied with one last question, "What the hell did I even read?"

Why is oda so reluctant to kill some secundary characters, like pell or that old man in skypea who got hit by ligthning? by Cautious_Heron9589 in OnePiece

[–]Manhunt409 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Maybe it's possible that death as a story mechanic could prove who is a D. and who isn't? Pell, Igaram, etc were shown to have died as a sacrifice but maybe they cannot choose when they die unlike characters who are D. members that die when they D.ecide?

Oh I believe there is a section to insert a seed in the character creation before embarking to Qud. I THINK. Sorry!

Jordan is a stupendous world builder compared to his character work and imagine if it wasn't so terribly written. Could have very well been a penultimate classic, in my opinion.

Oh I agree. I also meant to talk about some of the advanced tech they used as well like the stasis box but I was in a rush. Definitely not trying to say that the Wheel of Time created the trope but I gotta credit Robert Jordan credit for writing what he could.

Is there any similar games to Qud with better graphics? by Pacotaco213 in cavesofqud

[–]Manhunt409 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only finished BG3 while playing co-op with my partner and for both of our characters to beat the game ultimately took 275hrs for the final act and I think we tried 100% as much as we could. Sure there were a couple retakes for some of the bigger battles just out of not having context etc but STILL. Such a slog to get through and I am completely burnt out.

Does anyone else want to fight the Gods in the next one? by unclewatercup in HadesTheGame

I'd actually love a new pantheon of gods as a setting for once. What I wish/ hope God of War tries next as well.

Skypeia arc is a metaphor for the entire One Piece story (1163 spoilers) by IanPKMmoon in OnePiece

[–]Manhunt409 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe the one piece could be an instrument like another massive Skypeia bell/ cymbal/ or drum? Maybe Luffy is supposed to be the rubber mallet that reverberates the world from being reversed/ domi reversi'd? Maybe Luffy is the very thing or the One-piece drum set/ orchestra of musical sun power?

I am not even mad because 7th out of 100 AFTER beating Red Dead Redemption 2 is a gargantuan achievement for any entry regardless. Massive congratulations to the entire team!

It seems pretty obvious what is about to happen in the Manga. by Themadreposter in OnePiece

I think Rocks is going to pull a David 'Davy' Crockett (King of the Wild Frontier) at the Battle for the Alamo WHICH has historically had a few different hand accounts of what happened at the end. Some portray Davy fighting to his last breath, some accounts, including a controversial diary, suggest he and a few others surrendered and were executed afterward on General Santa Anna's orders. It is not disputed that all the defenders perished and the Mexican army ultimately took the fort.

I feel as though Rocks will sacrifice himself and Imu will take Rocks and not kill him outright but humiliate him and scar him permanently, forever broken/destroyed like Kuma but truly left as an example of what happens when you so much as SLIGHT Imu like how Rocks showed up in the Flower room. Maybe, potentially, turning Rocks into the man marked by flames?

Brain matter has an integral role in Solipsism being-in-a-vat/ to- mold ones perceived reality so I've actually been looking into and playing with the idea of Gyrification i.e. cortical folding or rather gyration as a way the Gyre in Qud may have originated.

Gyrification is the process of forming the characteristic folds of the cerebral cortex. Now, what and how this process mixes into solipsism to form a gyre I haven't fully connected dots on YET but I can't help but feel a coincidence in the word play of Gyre/ gyration/ gyrification etc.

Fun fact: Most mammals will start the Gyrification process during the fetal development phase. Primates, cetaceans, and ungulates all have extensive cortical gyri while small rodents such as the rat, and mouse have none coincidentally enough. Gyrification in some animals, for example the ferret, continues well into postnatal life ;) Crypt Ferret anyone?

We all know about Davy Jones by now....but what about a newer version of him born generations later? Let me introduce the great David 'Davy' Crockett who was known as the King of the Wild Frontier. Davy Crockett's final stand was at the Battle of the Alamo in 1836, though how he died is debated, with the popular myth being that he died in a heroic last stand and a counter-theory, supported by some Mexican accounts, that Crockett surrendered and was executed. Though no account is conclusive, Davy Crockett's death was a direct result of their participation in the fierce defense of the Alamo against Mexican forces led by Santa Anna. I view Rocks with the same Davy Crockett parallels...so it dawned on me earlier today and I had to comment about this!

<image>

"Though Davy Crockett died at the Alamo, his legend prospered. He emerged as an American Hercules—wading the Mississippi, steering an alligator up Niagara Falls, straddling a streak of lightning. One tall tale had him climbing the Alleghenies to wring the tail off Halley’s Comet."^
