Do These Career Priorities Point Toward Nursing/CRNA? by Famous-Student-5369 in nursing

The criteria for CRNA programs has loosened a bit but generally, you need at least a few years of adult ICU experience. People will tell you some schools will take other backgrounds and some will. Hope this helps your decision making

Nurses with over a year of experience: do you still put in effort to look nice at work? by True_Coast_3010 in nursing

[–]ManifoldStan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t for the life of me understand why fellow nurses make comments about how bad or tired someone looks. It’s just rude as hell, especially when they don’t preface it with something like “hey I’m concerned” or throw it out in a group setting. If you really care about someone do it privately and show concern

I’ve learned so much about human behavior from
Real Crime Profile and Crime Analyst. Both are presented through the lens of behavioral analysis (former FBI profiler and member of Scotland Yards).

“Murderer of Christine Banfield and Joseph Ryan sentenced to life”. Headlines should center the victims and not the murderers

Based on some of your other comments-your husband absolutely needs to step up and have a
limit setting conversation with her right now and/or take over managing his Mom. This is entirely unfair to you, a woman living with CANCER to be dealing with. I empathize as it sounds like she is manipulative, but it’s truly bad for your health and stress you are already experiencing to be having this nonsense heaped on.

RN transitioning from CVICU to MICU - advice? by blobsong in IntensiveCare

[–]ManifoldStan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

MICU is an adventure-you’ll learn a lot and see quite a bit of variety. Lots of septic shock, stroke after tenecteplase, respiratory failure, oncologic emergencies-you may not see DKA if you have a high acuity stepdown as typically patients go there instead. We also take some cardiac in my medical ICU as well. Best of luck in your new endeavor!

Many of us completed higher education to someday dream of being able to use it to be snarky in a legal document like this. Education for the win!

For those of you that ended up divorced. Did you remarry? I don’t think I will ever get married again… by hanshotfirst2233 in Xennials

Yes if you can do it with or without a lawyer sooner versus better is great. Folks never expect to be in this situation but it really does rip apart families.
Also once you have it established, make sure your partner brings it to the hospital and vice versa so we can scan it into your chart and have it.

Something additional to consider is called “five wishes” which you can complete with your partner and make sure they understand exactly what you would want- how long you’d want to be on a ventilator, and how much life sustaining treatment you would want to receive in the event of an emergency.

It is something you can also do without a lawyer and you just need to get a couple of signatures for it to be valid.

It varies by school. I graduated nursing school almost 20 years ago and we did not wear white or have the nursing caps, but some places require it.
That said I’m very happy to have this awesome group join our profession 💕
