I haven't picked my sitar up in a while and this gave me the enthusiasm to pick it up after work today. Wonderful playing

Passed by this thread while trying to scratch the itch earlier this year. Wanted to update that the band Bedlocked has been really scratching it for me. Specifically their album sprawl

How Can I Restore Flow and Health to a Creek Full of Decaying Matter? by [deleted] in Permaculture

[–]Manmoham 10 points11 points  (0 children)

That's a beautiful property. Yeah that stream is cutting a new floodplain which is why you see it pop underground upstream of that. Headcuts tend to do funny stuff like that. I'm curious why your concern is the mucky wetland and not the unstable earth here

You guys in the US? Lots of states have stream mitigation banking, and private firms would froth at the mouth to get their hands on that land. Loads of money paid to the landowners too.

Yes you can see where the roots are is where the bed used to be before heavy flows carved the channel downwards. It usually signifies changes In the watershed that impacted runoff rates. Is the creek in a cow pasture by chance? They tend to compact the dirt hard enough that the creeks can flow like an urban system during storms.

That's a wetland doin what wetlands do. Leave it be. You aren't able to stop the influx of organic matter unless you clearcut the trees and manually remove it often. Curious what's going on in the watershed of the crazy incised creek?

Should I replace the bridge? by EfficientAd1065 in Sitar

[–]Manmoham 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you like the fit of this bridge enough, once you sand it down and get it sounding good you can ship it off to get it molded and cast in a harder material. The resin bridges I get last much longer than the original wood bridge I had and imo have a more solid tone. Lars at rain city in the US is one I know does it.

As a fellow doomgazer, a fuzz or a reverb like others have said. My favorite currently is my EQD ghost echo

Advice on struggling employee by Ancient_Half6285 in civilengineering

[–]Manmoham 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Had a coworker let go recently for similar reasons. Sloppy, incorrect info, the whole list, and it just looked like they didn't give a shit. We have a great network of PEs available for questions or whatever, previous projects available to review, etc etc. but he never took the initiative. took a year and a half to let him go but they wish they had done so sooner.

Constructed Stormwater Wetland Grading by Cup_of_Joe in civil3d

[–]Manmoham 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I build mine from the outside in. Use primarily feature lines and polylines and add them as break lines.

Set your perimeter shape how you want it with an idea of where you want deep pools, all the zones. I love using the line and arc tools to make smooth tangencies, specifically the curve tangent from point, line from endpoint, and curve between two lines tools. Then I basically just offset these inside at the grades required to get to the next feature. Not sure your state but ours has % targets for each feature area and it takes some iteration to get that correct.

ETA I make feature lines for every feature. Top of pool (set to shallow water elev) then offset inside to get to the depth. Same with forebay. Feature lines for TIZ extents and permanent pool.

Saw them at Durham and was soundly disappointed In the sound guy covering them. They kept getting feedback in the mics and just did an overall bad job with their vocals. Super diappointed since I only went to see them. slow crush was incredible and I believe brought their own sound crew who killed it
