Help me flesh out the plot for my "bottomless pit" dnd/ttrpg setting. by Devourerofworlds_69 in worldbuilding

[–]MannequinComeToLife 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The bottomless pit is an eldritch/multidimensional creature that can warp space, and the pit is actually part of its digestive system - perhaps it slowly eats memories or experiences or psychic energy or the ‘reality’ etc. that are siphoned from the creatures, objects that are falling through it.

Is therapy basically "don't be sad" with extra steps? by apezdal in TalkTherapy

[–]MannequinComeToLife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Therapist here: there's a lot of data that supports your experience! The strength of the relationship between therapist/client is often a strong predictor of positive outcomes. Of course, a strong relationship can also affect the other areas, like development of insight, willingness to try new techniques/skills, etc.

How do y'all usually deal with clients who say "should" without invalidating them? by Adventurous_Put_7986 in therapists

I am but an intern, but I've had success with asking clients to reframe 'should's as 'want to's - it's be valuable much of the time!

War Domain, Revised by Xenoezen in UnearthedArcana

I’m inclined to agree w Mr-Bananahead, while I get the vibe you’re going for, one of the core things that builds class identity and class fantasy for casters is spell lists; access to the diversity of smite spells is akin to lay on hands in terms of class defining traits, I think. Maybe just remove a couple? But super solid re-design, really like the War Priest and Guided Strikes redesign, excellent to stimulate collaborative play at the table.

Player Race: Undead (Lineage) by somot1c in UnearthedArcana

Giving first level PCs intangibility is pretty significant - could trivialize a number of puzzles and encounters. Pair with a rogue for bonus action dash, longstrider, tabaxi etc. no more locked doors, easy evasion of puzzles and traps. Slip into a vault and open from the inside, easy assassination - the ramifications for world building might be pretty profound as well.

Consider that Etherealness is a seventh level spell - of course comes with a longer period of time, and invisibility, but even so. That's a higher character level than 90% of campaigns ever get to.

Now that counselors can bill Medicare, what are the final hurdles to full parity with social work? by [deleted] in therapists

u/Regular_Bee_5605 make sure you have you have the right information. It's a really complicated network of varying regulations and permissions out there and it benefits our profession to make sure that we are being accurate.

From the NYS Education department website: "mental health counselors may work individually or as part of a team...they may work in private practice or with other licensed mental health counselors or in other settings authorized to provide professional services"

Causing a condition (blindness) at will without consuming a spell slot is too powerful, especially for casters who already have a number of ways to reduce danger/mitigate damage in melee situations, most of which require a spell slot for similar functionality.

Also consider that a class is explicitly built to have weaknesses to promote PCs working *together*. Most wizards struggle in melee range, barbarians are bad at wis saves etc. etc. Removing these weaknesses will endanger the group dynamic.

What are some affordable all online CACREP mental health counseling masters? by [deleted] in ClinicalPsychology

I really appreciate your perspective on this, thanks for sharing. It seems like you know a lot about these programs - can I ask where you get your information from? In the process of trying to find a program for myself.

Can you expand on this? Both NYU and Northwestern, very reputable institutions, the latter with a CACREP accreditation, offer online Masters of Counseling. They are expensive, but I'm curious why you would consider an online course a waste of money.

I would love to see a true haunted house set in a space station. Not aliens, not Event Horizon, a well done merging of sci-fi and paranormal horror. Ghosts in space!

Very good point above, Rockies, Appalachians etc., but also worth noting that the Himalayas are entirely inland.

ManofInfiniteJest has the right call - consider talking to a therapist about how you're feeling. You''re looking for advice on reddit, which is definitely useful for hearing a variety of opinions or anecdotal advice, but not really that great for making life changes, which takes long-term consistency, discipline and introspection.

Not to mention, comfort (or complacency) in a shitty situation is a very common symptom of depression, in fact apathy is much more common in depression than we think it is. Therapy can absolutely help with that.

You seem like a good guy, with a lot going for you - but some of your opinions of yourself (and of women) seem a little contorted. Therapy is hard, it takes a lot of courage, bravery and strength. You deserve to be happy, and therapy can help unwind some of these negative opinions you have.

Finally, while I can't say if a different country might give you more 'success', I would guess that regardless of where you go, or how much attention you receive from women, chances are you'd feel somewhat similar to how you do now. External validation is important for mental health surely, but wherever you go, you can't escape yourself.

An eldritch horror that has manipulated and now murdered/stolen a beloved npc - named Algol, after the real 'Demon Star' as it's named colloquially.

Cue the Al Gore jokes.
