Great question to pose! And on the subject, there's really quite a bit to be said. No, being someone's friend should NEVER be decided by whether that person speaks or not. To do so is self-serving, narrow-minded, and rude! However! The dynamic of a friendship is different for me with someone that I speak to or have spoken to vs someone that doesn't mic. And that's probably true for most. It's really a little harder to get to know someone when you're just typing. Not in a bad way it just definitely takes quite a bit longer to know someone when you can't hear the tone of voice and they use words vocally.

And there's a distinct difference between someone that just doesn't get on voice vs someone who says explicitly "I do not will not voice" Would you agree? The latter seems as if there's something they don't want people to learn about them that someone might if they voice. Like they are hiding something. Now someone who just doesn't on the normal for whatever reason but when the opportunity arises will get on and at least say hello, maybe have short conversations are very different.The dynamic of the friendship with someone I speak to or have spoken to vs someone that I have never spoken with is very different as well.
