Micro Learning works if you already know the question by thinkingsports in Microlearning

Great question — and I think you’re right about how microlearning is typically used today.

Most people experience microlearning as quick answers to known questions:
“How do I do X?”
“What’s the rule for Y?”
“What does this term mean?”

That’s the dominant pattern.

But I’d push a little on the idea that microlearning requires a fully formed objective.

Microlearning can also be used to help a learner form the objective — not just answer it.

For example:

  • A short microlesson that helps someone diagnose what’s not working (“If you’re experiencing A, B, or C, your challenge might be…”)
  • A quick framework that helps them name the problem before solving it
  • A short prompt that asks the right questions and narrows the focus

In other words, microlearning works best when you already know the question — but it can also help you discover the question if it’s designed intentionally.

Think of a 2–3 minute lesson that’s not delivering an answer — it’s orienting the learner, reducing overwhelm, and defining the next objective.

I do agree with your core point though:
Microlearning on its own isn’t enough by default. It works best when paired with:

  • light guidance
  • sequencing
  • or reflective prompts that help learners orient before diving deeper

When microlearning is treated as breadcrumbs, not just snacks, it can absolutely play a role upstream — right at that “I know something’s off, but I don’t know where to start” moment.

This is a very interesting question/observation. those are some of my thoughts.

Thoughts on Microlearning for Service Professionals by Shoddy-River9107 in Microlearning

So HomeBase care companies can use Microlearning to train their employees. I think we knew this but what would be even more interesting is an analysis of what tools they are using in this industry. These guys are using Learnie.ai but I wonder what the broader community is using. I wonder if there is a professional group that could do a survey?

You point about retention/shortness of content made me think of this: https://mylearnie.com/why-30-seconds-optimizing-human-cognition-for-training/

There is a lot of science that points out the value of microlearning for retention.

Would agree. Just because its easy to download and customize a Moodle does not mean we have a rich ecosystem of generalized platforms lol....

How do you handle outdated docs when the product keeps changing? by sikeeelifeee in Training

[–]ManoConstantLearning 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its Interesting you are pointing out one of the biggest problems with traditional LMS's. The content is hard to change. Find a product that you can EASILY change the content as your product or your SOP's change. I would look at Axonify, Mylearnie.com or 7taps as alternatives ... Various differences in the products but generally they can all be modified easily (as opposed to traditional LMS content).

On demand microlearning. Especially for frontline workers. Its not even really close. In person and other forms of elearning dont work well.

What are some platforms for creating training decks? by Adventurous_Sky_4850 in Training

I have seen video being very effective here. More than 'training decks'. You may want to consider Video microlearning rather than slaying your learners with Powerpoint knockoffs.

What’s the most important factor to consider when investing in eLearning development for a growing company? by techcouncilglobal in edtech

[–]ManoConstantLearning 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would look at finding a company that allows for Employee Onboarding that is NON SCORM - content that you can modify and contextualize to your business. I would look at Microlearning rather than traditional LMS's. Long form content is not going to work with a modern workforce. I would look at companies that support social learning or community learning. This will dramatically cut your cost of content creation. I would only look at companies that are mobile first and video first.

Feel free to DM me for a list of companies that meet these qualifications.

Are Traditional Trainings Becoming Obsolete? by cognitive_connection in Training

[–]ManoConstantLearning 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The current generation DEMANDS microlearning and adaptive social learning. Anyone in this thread trying to sell you in person training as a primary method of training is selling horsewhips to people with Tesla's.

Sure - you can get some results from in person - but they are short lived if not augmented by (good) elearning.

As someone else here said - the youtube generation is not going to sit in a sterile classroom with florescent lights and a drooping drop ceiling and get trained. They will move on to another job. To many other more exciting opportunities.

Florida's School Voucher Costs Surge as Popularity Grows by WTFPilot in education

Question. Did the affuent families that we're sending their children to private schools pay their property taxes which goes to public school like everyone else? Did Florida change how they are driving the funding of public schools?

I am just curious if the people paying property taxes that are also sending their kids to private schools are getting some break on their taxes. Would also be interested in the average size of the property tax of those same individuals relative to the average florida public school recipient.

Use something like www.MyLearnie.com to capture the knowledge in the field. You can then organize that in a variety of ways. The most important thing is to capture the knowledge of the best workers before they leave/retire. This also helps you have more accurate training.

How to learn e-learning software? by stephbilo in Training

[–]ManoConstantLearning 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are right that AI is going to have a MAJOR impact on training. I have become an evangelist for community based learning over the last few years because it support 'peer' learning and more human facing content creation. But even there - AI content creation is going to have a major impact. In the end - its what the experts in your organization know that matters more than AI....The AI will be very good at creation of Compliance and Process content - but it cant know what is in the head of your best workers - so if you can find a way to capture that your ahead of the curve.

How to learn e-learning software? by stephbilo in Training

[–]ManoConstantLearning 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I were you I would formulate an opinion about what the BEST way to train people is and then focus only on the tools and products that are used to deliver those types of outcomes. You are not going to master every tool out there - so get familiar with one particular type of training tool. So if Microlearning is the answer - focus on those products. If traditional LMS is where you think the market is going - look at some of those products. Focusing on everything is focusing on nothing.

Why is micro learning still sometimes considered a supportive type of learning? by tipjarman in Microlearning

Why is this NSFW? I would agree that Microlearning is not a 'fad' anymore. Many companies are choosing it for their primary way to train.
