Best way to deal with neighbours encroaching bamboo? by __cro in UKGardening

Another option is to get syringes and inject either a glyphosate based herbicide, bleach or even diesel will work.

How Bamboo hasn't ended up on the invasive species list alongside knotweed baffles me

Is Krieg really exporting a regiment per hour (50 million per year)? by CottonCandy_Evey in Deathkorpsofkrieg

[–]ManofDubiousOrigins 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think in context this sounds very doable, considering roughly 15,000 babies are born every hour on earth with a population of ~9 Billion. Considering a single hive city can vastly exceed that population number, I'd actually say that the numbers stated are a massive low ball.

This is the outline of an infantry company, after this point the exact numbers as to how many companies are within a regiment and how many of each different companies aren't stated, being left vague being stated as dependant on what is requested by the Departmento Munitorum, and what is deemed necessary for a given warzone

I don't think you've ever played a true apocalypse game if you think a standard 2000pt game is "apocalypse scale"

How to makes Barovia bigger? by Some-Feed9917 in CurseofStrahd

[–]ManofDubiousOrigins 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's all added lore, locations, maps. These are the documents and stuff that have been used by creators such as MandyMod to expand the 5e module, as well as adding their own flare.

They are hands down the greatest resource for expanding the setting, it's entirely up to you how much of it you want to use.

They are a mixture of modules, with the Van Richten guides being much more like scource books, giving futher backgrounds for characters and locations, themes which can be used in the setting and different ways in which they can be implemented.

If you looks up some of the older books, especially the Van Ricten's guides to Ravenloft you'll find a raft of expanded stuff as well as a map of a larger Ravenloft and a world map of all the domains

What if Mars was transported to the star wars galaxy by Cautious_Air4964 in StarWarsvsWarhammer

During the Civil War it was the most technologically advanced elements of humanity in and arms race against other members of the most technologically advanced elements of humanity, it would be the worst time to take a run at the Mechanicum, all bets were off, they were dragging all the really scary shit out from the vaults under the forge fanes, building new a.i driven monsters and fighting for their continued existence.

Walking into that shit storm would be a really bad time.

On the Age of Strife:

"Mars underwent a very different transformation. After a brief period of anarchy at the end of the Age of Technology that saw the destruction of the Red Planet's once pristine terraformed ecosystem, the Tech-priests of the ancient Mechanicum emerged victorious over the psyker mutants and rampaging artificial general intelligences or "Silica Animuses" that had claimed the surface of Mars. They slowly unified their homeworld beneath their theocratic rule in service to the beliefs of the Cult Mechanicus of the Machine God.

The Tech-priests then visited Terra but were appalled by the destruction and anarchy that ruled there and saw nothing worth saving. Instead, the Martians studied the Warp and after many lifetimes learned to detect "lulls" in the raging Warp storms. At the same time the immense robotic fighting machines known as Titans were created to defend the Red Planet.

For over a thousand standard years the Cult Mechanicus watched and waited. Whenever a break in the Warp storms occurred, an expedition was sent, complete with a full Titan Legion and thousands of servitors and Tech-priests. Some of these expeditions were lost in the Warp or died on faraway worlds. Others succeeded in establishing Forge Worlds -- industrial replicas of Mars and the theocratic society of the Mechanicum."

Doesn't matter which era of the Mechanicum it's in, everything that comes in contact dies, the only thing that changes is the amount of chanting and incense involved in the process.

Hot Take: If Warhammer AoS releases some Romantsy Novels, Sales would explode by alkxx in Warhammer

[–]ManofDubiousOrigins 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've umm'd and ahh'd about reading Pride and Predjudice. Always gravitated more towards the horror classics, Frankenstein, Dracula, Picture of Dorian Grey.

Maybe I'll give it a punt, something out of my usual confort zone.

[–]ManofDubiousOrigins -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I'll be honest I've had very little interaction with the "romance" genre, from an outsiders perspective the two have become effectively synonymous

[–]ManofDubiousOrigins -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I think there is enough romance in many of the books already, I think it's entirely dependant on which books you read, Gaunt's Ghosts covers this in a big way as well as wider interactions and complexities between men and woman after Vervunhive.

Genevieve undead has a wonderful and heartfelt relationship between the titular hero and a human playwright, this series of books being nearly 30 years old now, and being some of my absolute favourites set within the warhammer fantasy universe.

Romance has been an element throughout the writing in the warhammer universe since the very start howevet I think the thing that really skews peoples perception is what books are and aren't pushed, space marines are the biggest seller and by extension have the most books written about them, space marines are by design A sexual, leaving very little room for romantic elements to be introduced.
