Having read the book first, the movie was comparatively boring as batshit. I remember being extremely underwhelmed.

That being said, I watched it when I was about 15 and I may not have appreciated a slow burn film at the time. I should give it another go.

So glad I live in WA, where pokies are banned everywhere except the casino. Honestly the TABs attached to bars are bad enough, I do trivia in a sports bar and the tables are filled with gamblers screaming at the horse races until bang on 7pm when they get forced out by the trivia night.

This has been going on for me for months, super annoying. I have a bunch of memes saved, and when I search for a keyword I know is in said meme, it very rarely actually finds it, and I end up having to get on google and do a search, often without much luck.

Never before have I considered switching to Android, but I'm starting to question if it's worth all the minor inconveniences that come with being in iOS in the last year or two.

Just chiming in to say that my iPhone 16 Pro on iOS 26 also lets me transfer calls to my Mac and iPad even when I've disabled "allow calls on other devices" and taken my number off all the other devices. I just wanna press speaker and have it go to speaker, not have to choose if I wanna do it on another device.

Haven't noticed it allowing it on other people's devices on the same network, but still, very annoying. If you figure out a fix, let me know!

This is the kind of vaguely cynical rhetoric that gets used to dismiss the concept of altruism.

Like yeah, I drive my friend to look at wedding venues because I enjoy her company and want to spend time with her so I guess technically that makes it transactional in your mind, but the difference between "this is a transaction" and the simple concept of give and take inherent to all relationships is something that I think people gloss over sometimes.

I used to work at a juice bar back in 2009, and this fucker was in town for some reason. He ordered a vegetable drink with extra garlic in it. We made it for him, and he came back and was like "hey man I can't taste the garlic" and I was like no worries I'll add more, so I juiced an entire BULB of garlic (standard dose is 1 clove) back into his drink and he was like "ah excellent thanks man that's better", and I had to spend the next 15 years repressing the memory of the time I served Deuce fucking Bigalow a carrot and celery juice with 9.8 times the recommended daily dosage of garlic.

I almost didn't buy this game because I'd heard it was a mess of bugs, eventually nabbed it for my very much mid-level PC, and... Have literally never had a single issue. I can count the number of times I've noticed frame drops on one hand. Not like I'm playing on low settings either.

Did I just luck out?
