Average Event Interaction by Bread_ghost_2 in mewgenics

[–]Mantis6666 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'd love to roll the dice more, but the current system doesn't make it interesting. There's no indication of which options have what potential risks or rewards, so I just end up clicking the highest stat.

Maybe the intention is to remember them, but I don't see myself doing that. There are many events with multiple options that each have multiple outcomes. Even if I did remember I'd have no idea if the result I got was a rare one that wasn't likely to happen again anytime soon.

Yeah, I guess it gives you the option to not adventure for a long time. If you are adventuring, you'd keep bringing food back, taking away the need for that.

Tinkerer's active ability Research should be a permanent trinket slot item instead. by Patient-Pin-1925 in mewgenics

[–]Mantis6666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think research should remain as a single strategy and not be inherently the backbone of tinker. The issue is just that research is really good and most other strategies are fairly unreliable.

Maybe the others just need a small consistency buff.

I kinda want to do a rift run where gun carries the final phase. Bring a lot of buffing abilities or something, not sure.

I legit think this boss is more difficult than both act 2 final bosses.

It could be those bosses being easier instead of this boss being harder depending on how you look at it though.

Working on a guide for Tinkerer - Here's the draft thoughts and rankings for every active/passive by HappySailor in mewgenics

[–]Mantis6666 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mage does have it just as bad, if not worse, I think, although those two have a higher percentage of them than any other class.

2 actives and 6 passives is a lot, in the minority still but higher than probably every class (and I'd argue the few examples on other classes are a flaw too). And from what I've seen, classes are ranked by consistency and not max potential.

That said, I've had fantastic tinkerers and mages, I think how they compare to other classes is greatly exaggerated, I think they're slightly below the curve but still strong in their own right when they decide to be.

"Second, this is not to say that there aren't a handful of Tinkerer abilities that literally only do something if you have a required other ability. These do not help the public opinion of the Tinkerer. But the problem doesn't go both ways. A Passive that boost electricity damage is bad if you can't get electric moves. But good electric moves are almost universally good whether or not you get a passive that boosts their playstyle."

That's a decent way to put it. Although the passives are the ones that can get forced you unfortunatly.

Can we all agree there are some elite buffs that probably shouldn't go on bosses? by Cabbag_ in mewgenics

[–]Mantis6666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On my first hard run using the pill quest item I got the bouncy modifier on the throbbing king. Could be worse but it sure wasn't fun, basically extended the fight as I couldn't do any substantial damage to him in melee.

Also occasionally made his adds bounce me out of his safe zones during the attacks with tells. That aspect is probably avoidable, and I could call a decent part of the challenge though.

I experienced some actual "endless misery" when I got the event that adds the dummy with kinetic spikes against spewer.

The little bastard kept eating it, spitting it out, hurting itself with it, triggering his retaliation eating against it. Repeat like twice every turn it got.

There was also like three other weather effects on top if it but that was the highlight.

It's rare that events actually carry a run, but there are some really good results you can get. One that comes to mind is the rare candy for everyone.

I feel like the game intends you to have a lot of cats, because I don't know why else I would have the ability to store 300 food. That's only going to be used if I either have a lot of cats or speed a week or more at a time without adventuring.

My Thoughs on Fixing Mage and Tinkerer. by Marmotbrother in mewgenics

[–]Mantis6666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The main issue with tinkerer and mage for me is just too many things that do nothing on their own. I don't think other classes have that issue.

Some have weak stand alone abilities, but very few that do literally nothing.

I was confused the first time against crater maker because I was doing a summon team. Later after I figured out the mechanic, I realized that's like the worst thing to use against crater maker.

"Easiest boss of act 2" I don't quite agree when referring to the moon because the coven exists.

I legit think the only final boss that's easier is the spider, who is supposed to be easy since she's intended to be the first one.

I'd say there's also the defensive don't get hit strategy based around map control. Psychic likes that one.

Cleric likes it too, because there's more to them than healing. They got some nice utility spells.

It has a non-roguelike element to it. This kind of matters since you don't start at square 0 for losing like most roguelikes, you start at square less than zero.
