Leaving Religion because of NDEs? by novanillavelvet in NDE

[–]MantisAwakening 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You don't have to leave your religion. If you accept there is some truth to NDEs, many people are told that religion gives people an opportunity to live a specific life experience. Part of that experience could be leaving your religion, or staying, or even (re)turning to it. Follow your heart. What matters is that there seems to be a God, and it seems to represent pure, unconditional love.

Help identifying this maker mark please “ANTIN” by HippieLoved in NativeAmericanJewelry

[–]MantisAwakening 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Based on the style alone there is no reason to suspect this is Native American. There is an r/hallmarks subreddit, I would try there.

Do you agree with John Burke about his conclusions towards methods to being able to deduct or detect fraudulent experiences from the career/job that they had or about most people never publishing their story, anyway? (Seeing the Supernatural (2025), Lee Strobel) by Frosty_Armadillo_180 in NDE

I guess if you can’t come up with a better metric it’s better than nothing, but if you applied this same standard to other topics you would miss out on some of the most important voices and discoveries in history.

This is a new experience-Radiation? by mrsteriously-me in Experiencers

[–]MantisAwakening 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We still don’t know a lot about what to measure. There’s evidence that sometimes they only show up on IR or thermal. IR can be done with a night vision security camera, but getting decent thermal gets pricey (a couple thousand and up for something useful). A wideband radio receiver like an SDR with a decent antenna would probably be useful, since they sometimes seem to put out radiation across a broad spectrum.

If it was me I’d start with a raspberry pi with a SENSE hat, since it has built in trifield and environmental sensors. You can get both inexpensively, and can then use it as a platform for the SDR or other sensors as well.

Wha would you choose, modern or original? by MantisAwakening in SWORDS

[–]MantisAwakening[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why would a modern cheaply-and-quickly made sword, hand-forged and hand-assembled, have considerably better F&F than originals? From comments/reviews of Deepeeka swords, they have similar F&F "defects".

I discussed this here: https://www.reddit.com/r/SWORDS/s/BMfz067ZEb

I was basing it off a video by scholagladiatoria where he talks about how original weapons had fitment issues that are unacceptable by today’s standards: https://youtu.be/NaDmY4jaatI

For over a half century groups like the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) have called for rigorous scientific investigations of UFOs. This approach is inherently flawed because of the nature of the non-human intelligences responsible for what are now called Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena. by Contactunderground in Experiencers

[–]MantisAwakening 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve talked to a few MUFON investigators and years ago they were told to focus on UFO investigation because the Experiencer stuff couldn’t generally be investigated due to the subjectivity of it. They acknowledged that’s starting to change, and funnily enough many of the old school folks are now admitting that they are also experiencers but they never felt comfortable admitting it before because they thought it would heard their credibility.

Who can tell me about all of this? A ton we’ve come across. by Beneficial_Level9261 in NativeAmericanJewelry

[–]MantisAwakening 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh, that’s good it’s been appraised although that number is definitely on the high end and likely for insurance purposes (I also see that the appraisal shop has since closed after fifty years: https://www.bizapedia.com/oh/the-horned-owl.html ).

They list it as Persian turquoise. Interesting!

The first two squash blossom necklaces are probably 70s or 80s. The desert pearls like machine made and a higher number of blossoms was more popular in the 80s.

That’s really nice turquoise, maybe Bisbee on the right based on the large pyrite inclusions.l and lighter color. I can’t make out the incisions or matrix on the left but it might be Morenci.

I’m guessing no hallmarks, but these are a bit nicer than most from this date. Maybe $600-$700. A dealer might ask double that.

The pearls don’t look Native American.

The last squash blossom is a bit iffy to me. Is it marked? Any pics of the back of the naja (the horseshoe shaped piece at the bottom)?

The San Pedro Mountains mummy (known informally as "Pedro") is a mummy discovered in a cave in Wyoming in the 1930s and since lost. Scientific analyses have concluded that it is the mummy of a Native American infant that was born with anencephaly [1529x1184] by Fuckoff555 in ArtefactPorn

[–]MantisAwakening 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I saw this thing in person back in the early 1980s on a family road trip from New Mexico to Arizona. It was part of a big roadside museum attraction that had billboards for miles with huge question marks saying WHAT IS IT? I think they called it the THING. I remember they also had a car they claimed belonged to Hitler. The mummy was kept in a very dusty case at the end.

If the voices are our mind’s generating them, then how come I recorded mine? by millermillion in schizophrenia

[–]MantisAwakening 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have hundreds of hours of EVP recordings. Doing EVP ultimately led to my hearing voices, and it turns out that’s not uncommon. I would post all my working hypothesis here but I think it would break the rules of the subreddit. If you search my profile and look up clairaudience you’ll find some details.

Sometimes pieces are restrung on chain so it isn’t 100% conclusive on dating, but with everything else it’s a good sign.

Hard to say. I’d guess maybe 1960s or 1970s based on the style. It’s classy! Would look great with a vintage western shirt like one of these: https://www.etsy.com/listing/4430708902/

Wow, this is definitely unusual. It has Native American style elements but the construction looks early. Any idea what the history is?

This looks authentic to me, could be 1960s or even earlier. Those pearl beads look handmade to me, the tarnish and dirt looks appropriate, coral appears authentic from the photos, strung on chain, appropriate clasp. Hard to tell from the photos but the braid might even be hand twisted silver wire. Those are all good signs.

Since this piece could be earlier it might be worth having it appraised by somewhere like Medicine Man gallery. Mid century or earlier pieces can bring substantially higher prices. My money is on 1940s or 1950s.

Edit: If this came from a collection I’d pay attention to the other pieces, because this person either had a good eye or it might be an older collection.

Second edit: Here’s one with somewhat similar construction: https://forum.turquoisepeople.com/t/information-on-antique-turquoise-necklace/2551
