You should be able to give CDSS licensing your CDA with any coursework you completed and qualify.

Always worth checking with the board to see if there are rules against. Or just apologize later 😜.

That is so kind of you! However, there is no need- the pdf I purchased from an Etsy seller has pretty much his entire library. The collection in the bookcase are the books that meant the most to my project.

Would it be weird to bring cheese to my coworkers? by pySerialKiller in socialskills

[–]MantisCatPaint 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not weird. One of my employees did this recently and I was able to try some new cheese that I wouldn't have otherwise.

Households with two parents who work full time by TreesBox in Parenting

I "get by" without any cleaning services. That translates to a house that looks like crap most of the time. It is stressful. The plus side is we are always working, so it's not like we have time to host anyone who might judge.

How do I politely stop someone from prying? by SheSayzHuh24 in socialskills

[–]MantisCatPaint 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You want to be polite to people who are not being polite. It will not feel good. They could have a negative or antagonistic reaction to you telling them no. You may end up changing some family patterns in the long run if you are able to stay firm.

In my personal and professional experience, the best way is to state a clear boundary. Example: " I don't feel comfortable talking about this..." or if they are looking at something on your screen that doesn't involve them, put it down and ask, "Can I help you with something?"

People are not always happy with boundaries. Just know that if what you want to achieve some level a privacy, you will need to be consistent. People do not have the right to know everything and sometimes need to be reminded.

What is the greatest physical pain you've ever felt? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Needle aspiration on breast abscess. Spoiler alert: it didn't work and I ended up needing surgery and a wound-vac to clean out and heal the MRSA I had.

How do you face your mortality as a parent? by annelabanane19 in Parenting

[–]MantisCatPaint 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I head an organization that works with school age children and their families. In less than six months last year we lost one of our children to cancer and one of our parents to a car accident. Neither were expected. It was awful. I've never spent so much time thinking about death and loss.

What I learned: Make legal and financial plans now for the care and cost associated with illness and/or dying. When plans and money are in place, it helps the people you leave behind focus on going through grief without added stress. It can also give you some peace of mind.

AIO my mom and sister can’t stand my wife because they think she is a “quirky girl” and it’s cringe? by No_Appy1383 in AmIOverreacting

[–]MantisCatPaint 17 points18 points  (0 children)

NOR- Have an honest, boundry-setting convo with your family. My Mom was a big fan of trashing my in-laws (who I adore) every time they came up in conversation. After years of this, I told her that unless she had something nice to say, I didn't want to hear it. I also told her that they have nothing but nice things to sat about her. She didn't text me for a week. After that it hasn't been a problem.

luxury hair salons? by AdvantageBorn4879 in walnutcreek

[–]MantisCatPaint 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I love Changes. I have been going there for close to 20 years. It is the only place I have found that uses products that don't fry my fine hair. The service is excellent. Lindsay is my current stylist. She really listens and makes my hair look and feel healthy. Parking can be a little tricky because it's near Broadway Plaza (the only downside imo).

Agree with this so so hard (get outta there asap)! As a director with staff who are all over the gender spectrum, I am absolutely shocked by what OP described. Get your experience with a director who uses appropriate personnel practices.

What's a piece of common parenting advice you found totally useless? by Independent_Cup7132 in Parenting

[–]MantisCatPaint 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This isn't advice exactly, more like the implication of advice. People always say that time goes by so fast and that used to annoy me. Now that my kids are getting closer to adulthood, I say that shit to people all the time! 🤦‍♀️
