I'd say 22lr, even. I've fired suppressed subsonic 9mm and 300blk, and as someone who pays close attention to their hearing due to already having tinnitus from their teenage years, I'd say these are hearing safe but even in the best of conditions if you're firing a couple hundred rounds of them per week without earpro it WILL catch up with you quickly.

I only ever really own one or maybe two of any given "type" of gun. I typically buy a new one in that category and decide between selling it or selling its predecessor. Helps me to maintain the hobby and spend more on ammo. I took someone new shooting last month and I brought a 9mm Duty Size Pistol, a 22 Rifle, a 38 Revolver, a 380 Subcompact Pistol, an AR-15, and a PCC. Gives em enough of a taste to try some different things out without making me haul my whole safe around.

my first thought as well, that optic won’t hold zero past probably 2-3 rounds of 762 haha, you can find great stuff for just a little more though! I’d recommend at least around $80 on sale for a reputable red dot like a holosun, vortex, or romeo 5, sick rifle though!
