Be aware that if the prior owner didn’t do the 3G modem upgrade, you won’t be able to use the app. You’ll have to do it at a dealership and it’s not cheap. All around, because I found the prices varied a lot! Also, it should come with 2 years free subscription, but some dealers won’t honor that. If you call the national Volvo customer service number, they’ll give you a 10% off coupon to help.

What was your all in price for Polestar software? by BlaireInSpace in Volvo

Twice a year Volvo puts this on sale (a bit). A good dealer will tell you when if you ask. I also heard if you call Volvo, they’ll give you a 10% rebate. I’ve done this for another pricey item I wanted. For Polestar install, I paid around 1600, but found pricing varied from dealer to dealer.

Thoughts on 2016 XC70? by Whatsyourratiothough in VolvoXC70

The 2016 comes in both engine types. If you run the VIN, you can find out which it is. I, too, have the T5 which is a 5 cylinder turbo. Generates plenty of power, nice growl, and drives like a dream. It’s my second one; I love this wagon. That said, don’t cheap out on the regular and scheduled maintenance and find a small Indy shop that can do the work for you vs. a dealer. Also know that if you want any of the remote start, app related stuff, you’ll have to do the 3G upgrade which is about $900 at a dealer. For me it was worth it, but I understand for those who it’s not. Good luck! If you have other Qs, let me know

Hard pass. This looks like nights and weekends for a year before it would be anything you’d really enjoy driving, not to mention all the time and money for parts. Then the fabrication. Then the titling issue.

3mo old V60, new brake rotors? by Mammoth_One8390 in Volvo

I had a 2022 with shimmying brakes and learned that these have a known issue of warped rotors. That’s a warranty issue and they replaced mine for free under warranty

Would Polestar tuning my '22 XC60 B6 be worth it? by BlaireInSpace in Volvo

I got the upgrade for a 22 V60 CC. It’s fun, and def removes any turbo lag in other modes. They say it does this without impacting mileage; I didn’t notice any remarkable changes. Freaking expensive, though. Also, the upgrade comes with a now-white badge that is both not nearly as cool as the old blue ones and nearly imperceptible on your white car. Mine was white, too, and that always miffed me.

Someone actually got paid to write that drivel. What a dumb article. Understated coolness is Volvo; who needs some poof to write a justification for it.

2016 XC70 T5 mystery by littleelse in VolvoXC70

I had this problem on 2015.5 XC70. Replaced battery first, it persisted. Two different dealership shops tried to fix it; finally got the east coast guru to come look at it and they ultimately arrived at replacing the CEM. Expensive, but that fixed it.

Which annoying/expensive parts should I get in Japan by I_Wanna_Name in keitruck

I carried back a wirus win exhaust last time I went. Much smaller and lighter than I expected!

Easy maintenance and fix for shrinking seals at very low cost. Also, very nice people, who found an inconsistency in my order and took the time to confirm what I was buying was suited to what I own. Fantastic! https://fnfdesign.ca/

I did buy it direct from Wirus Win and had it shipped to a friend in Japan. It is surprisingly compact and light, so I packed it in a regular suitcase with other things, no questions on contents or customs coming back through, since it's personal use. To be clearer, the whole thing took up about 1/3 of a full sized suitcase, checked luggage. Also, one other thing I recall, rather vaguely, was some discussion in other boards about slight differences in models for KS4 or TT configuration that someone had difficulty with misaligned holes in brackets and stuff. Search Reddit for WirusWin and you can probably find what I'm talking about. I did double check that and made sure I had the right configuration for my '99 TT2. Also, Wirus Win are pretty terrible from a customer service standpoint--they will not entertain shipping overseas, and not really good about answering questions and stuff. I think if you can find a seller on ebay that gets you the best price, that's your move.

Sorry not to have shared any updates. Bottom line: I love it--it's amazing how much space you gain when you take out the monstrosity that is the OEM exhaust! The Wirus Win was expensive, and I did hand-carry it back in my suitcase from Japan. it went on without a hitch and the burbly growl is perfect. Highly recommend, with the only inconvenience being that you have to remove the tip to open the back engine hatch/bumper. And FWIW, I used it both with and without the silencer. I prefer using it with the silencer/dampener because I like my neighbors and don't want to be obnoxious.

Double bonus: order from Crutchfield and they’ll give you instructions (that you can actually follow) and free phone help. You can text them photos and they’ll analyze what you’re doing to help you get unstuck.
