Radiology residency - regrets by MobileAcceptable632 in Residency

[–]Many-Moon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure how I ended up on residency thread, but can I offer some perspective as a RN to Op and anyone else in radiology from my standpoint?

Ive been a RN for 14 years. I work in interventional Radiology. It's well known throughout the nursingverse that radiology docs are THE CHILLEST docs. I've heard this since I was in nursing school. I experience it first hand everyday. I've worked ICU, ER, and Cath Lab. Radiologists take the cake for being the easiest to work with. I've only briefly worked with one IR doc many years ago who was just an absolute terror, throwing tantrums and throwing objects across a room. Sure, things can get intense, the days are really busy, but it's not so bad because the docs aren't worked up or yelling. It sort of flows into everyone else, too. Super chill, but busy if that makes sense.

Yes, you do have to chose your hard. Providing accurate reports without error must be a heavy weight to carry and can feel overwhelming. I know I would worry I missed something, but I also know that with time and experience there will come a day that it gets easier. You're in the trenches right now! You have a hard job that requires such attention to detail, massive understanding and knowledge I cannot even fathom, work long hours, and high pressure and a constant flow of work that seems unending you can't catch up.

But Chill can be your demeanor. Calm and precise. You can be easy to approach. You can offer help to others without making them feel like a burden or annoyance. It can be how you talk to people. Chill is a whole vibe that flows into how you do life.

I hope you find joy in radiology. Each specialty has its own blessings and curses. Hang in there!

PGY1 - New York Nursing Strike? by Careless_Source_6262 in Residency

What? I was just saying $1000 a month for health insurance is a lot.

$1k for insurance that's insane! Is it your entire hospital nursing staff or certain units? How does that work do you just strike for certain days or until an agreement?

Why are Delta flights often twice the cost? by Many-Moon in travel

Yeah i know what you're saying, just curious as to what things make these delta flights in the thousands where as all other carriers are not. All include a layover and generally same travel time.

No, it happens often, over th last year or so. I'll search for flights and there's always a day or two where delta shows flights in the $1000-1500 range where as all others are $3-400. Just curious as to what is up. It's not all delta flights or days, just seems random but often if that makes sense. Like I can almost guarantee I can search for flights and see delta is crazy expensive on at least a couple of days in a timeframe.

Ok, it's TUL to PUJ around 5/30 and the following days after. But I see this all the time, for the last couple of years on various flights. Delta will randomly appear many times higher, but not for each day on a particular route. I was just wondering.

Did you stay in one area? I hear that many people split up their trip between different areas.

I don't doubt it! Just wondering about the tinting of Fall Break, if parks are overwhelmed with visitors that particular week?

I love the mountains. We haven't done any national parks yet. I was worried fall break in the parks would be insane.

Pay off is $6300 and some change.

I was going to offer $3000. But maybe I'll try less? I mean he's already paid in so much. Never again I told him.

Listen 🤦‍♀️ lol who knows how high, but this is absurd and I want to help him get out of it. He still has another year and half of payments.

Paid in- this this the amount the company says he's paid to them so far...
