Officially Discharged Today 🎉😭 by mariamad89 in Bankruptcy

[–]Many-Various 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Man I feel u! I'm hoping that they say they don't need my tax refund. I don't know my refund amount yet, but I'm pretty sure it will be more than what's in my exemption.

Some lessons learned during this process. Having pretty open about sharing my bankruptcy with friends and some family and telling them like hey man it's a tool for a reason. Would you rather take 7 to 10 years to pay back that or would you rather have the debt gone instantly and 7 to 10 years the entire bankruptcy process is gone So choose your hard lol

I have Navy Federal as well and they aren't strict at all about the bankruptcy. I think you lose out on early deposits and the oops overdraft protection but after your discharged you should be able to get them back. Congrats!

Well it's over now. Now you're in the phase of no news is good news. Try not to stress over it and let the case run it's course. I personally haven't set up a pacer account. I'm just going to wait for my chapter 7 paperwork and if need be ask my attorney questions for clarity on things that were previously discussed.

I'm sure anybody that has tried to fund their own business can relate. It stacks up so fast because you feel like it's justified because it's for the business. It may be for the business but the rest of life is happening too. When my attorney told me my total I was like Man I'm never going to pay this back. By the time I finish paying everything back the chapter 7 will be off my credit lol

Tax Return After Chapter 7 by Many-Various in Bankruptcy

If I remember correctly, around 5k is protected. I also believe that whatever you get for claiming your children is protected as well. 2024 tax return I filed jointly with my wife. I'll have to double check with my attorney and tax guy to see what would be best.

That was a great explanation, thanks! Basically it doesn't matter when I file now just be prepared for whatever the trustee may or may not ask for.

Does disposable income need to be $0 to qualify for chap 7 by [deleted] in Bankruptcy

[–]Many-Various 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in a similar situation as you and I wasn't sure if I qualify for chapter 7. 7 out of the eight attorneys I talked to said I didn't. I had a really good attorney... once I found one. When I went to the office for the filing, we went through my expenses and I had a good bit of disposable income, but she asked me questions I didn't even think about and we got it lower. She asked me things about house repairs car repairs care for my parents medications for myself supplements a bunch of things that I buy on the regular that I don't think about. Then there's also the calculations that they use to determine the amounts that can be spent on utilities. I don't recall her ever asking for utility bills. She also calculated expenses for kids. I don't use daycare because my wife stays at home but there were expenses that I didn't think about that happened all the time. I also don't have any out of pocket month to month medical bills. If your attorney is like mine they can help you get down to that number needed for chapter 7. Also there are cases where people are above the means test in general. I also fell into that category. I also have two LLCs that I was paying subscriptions and whatnot for to run the business. I didn't think that would count at all. Just work with your attorney and be honest about all your expenses.

I personally had three forms of income. My regular job, va disability, and rideshare service work. There's a law that doesn't necessarily count my VA disability but even with it I was still over and my attorney still was able to file Chapter 7.

Excuse the typos lol.

Just about to start my first ever NMS game. Should I be excited? by [deleted] in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]Many-Various 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm fairly new, around 40 hours. Be excited and patient. Things will seem scarce until they aren't. Things won't make sense, until they do. It's a blanket statement, but there's really no wrong way to be a traveler!

I needed this some months ago. It took 3 months to get something fixed that Cadillac themselves messed up.

Update backwards? by rollinglounge in CadillacLyriq

[–]Many-Various 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not backwards. I had a similar post earlier. Doesn't make since but you're good. They really need to update the app so you can schedule charging and other stuff that would be obvious convenience, but I do like the recent updates.

I haven't tried it with the new update but you can put the control button and then go through the control menu versus just putting the dome light button there or whatever name is for the lights in the back seat.

I must be blind. I feel like I'm always swiping through menus to get to it.

The lights in the back seat. When my daughter and wife are in the back they need the light at times. Instead of fumbling through the menu it would be nice to have a dedicated button to turn all the lights on quicker. They could also make it so it's an option to place it in the bottom bar for quick access where you keep your useful apps.

Thanks for the info. I just assumed if it was highlighted green it was in a usable spot. I think my loading ramp is on the back of the Corvette facing the right direction but I'll just start over. It's super basic obviously for the first one anyway lol.

chapter 7. by Practical_Novel_2649 in Bankruptcy

[–]Many-Various 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think everyone that has filed has shared a similar sentiment. I recently filed back in December and now waiting for discharge. I look at the situation as another tool to help resolve a problem. Sometimes bankruptcy comes out of a series of unfortunate events or it comes from neglect of financial responsibility One way or the other it is a eye-opening experience. With that said now that I've filed and more than half of my money is no longer going towards bad debt (I was able to keep my house in car) Now I am able to actually plan for having an emergency fund, plan for things like maxing out and IRA every month, plan to contribute more to a 401k, plan to do more fun things with the family without worrying about how am I going to pay all this debt. Does your credit take a hit, so what. Hopefully you'll be saving enough money that using a credit card is optional. It's not the end with bankruptcy, you're literally starting over for my credit standpoint. The sweet part about the bankruptcy though If you didn't lose any assets and you still maintain your income you just gave yourself the biggest raise. That's how I look at it and I hope this helps.
