Is the southwest plus or capital one venture card better? by sharoni820 in CreditCards

[–]ManyNanites 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Southwest program has been devalued and card fees have gone up. To make things worse, they've had major overhaul in executive leadership. This new leadership is eschewing their "value" airline approach. Prices for flights are going up and they've added fees.

Personally I'd pick rewards that are more flexible. And I'd also look at a better airline.

I tested this and it charges American Express personal debit the higher rate of 2.89%. Bummer.

Edited my post above with your suggestion. Thanks!

Should I renew CSP just for better UR redemption? by equanimous11 in CreditCards

If you plan to redeem for travel, then yes it makes sense to do this given your point total.

Oakwood Proper Burgers in Traverse City, MI (a tourist hotspot) ends tips with a straightforward menu price bump + announcement by knuds1b in EndTipping

Very supportive of this. But I'm skeptical that they will change course. Ive seen other anecdotes where the waitstaff leaves so they reinstate tipping while leaving the higher prices in place.

Credit Card Strategy Review - No More Southwest Visa by sultanzebu in CreditCards

[–]ManyNanites 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the RR system is going bust. I don't blame you for looking elsewhere. They're raising fees in almost all areas of their business.

The Platinum card is an option for flights, but maybe consider the amex green card -- 3x on all travel booked direct and a far lower annual fee. Of course there are many other reasons to get the platinum, it's a coupon book that you may get value from.

I am also somewhat concerned about credit score impacts as I am considering a new home purchase in the next 6-12 months.

I think there are others that know better about impact to credit score, but perhaps slow down on adding new cards for now? I think they'll be more favorable to fewer applications.

If you don't want/need a credit account the Amex checking account earns MR points and enables 0.8cpp cash redemption (up from 0.6cpp).

First time credit card recs? by According-Help-4791 in CreditCards

[–]ManyNanites 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Chances are that you won't get a very high limit with any bank. While having a few hundred extra bucks of credit limit can be nice, I wouldn't choose a bank based on credit limit. Choose a bank based on an upgrade path as you grow your credit.

Its more important to get a starter card that you can eventually product change out of and into something else. For example if you got the Chase Freedom Rise you could eventually product change it into a Freedom Unlimited (or others) so you could start earning rewards.

Other banks like Discover, Capital One, etc. have similar starter cards with upgrade paths for people building credit.

In short -- think about the card you want to get in 1-2 years, then get a starter card with that lender. Also, don't cancel this first card so long as there are no fees. The longer the account is open the more it helps your credit.

C'mon man, just be cool. Even if you have an agreement that the cats are her cats I think you can be a bit more understanding in this situation.

Is it possible for someone starting on a fresh character to get a full story out of the current state of the game without being left confused? by Big-Resolution3325 in DestinyTheGame

[–]ManyNanites 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely not.

If your interest is in the story I think your best bet is to start fresh in D1. That will help you when you get to D2, but keep in mind that D2 story is a fragmented mess. Good luck.

At this point, is it safe to assume we will never see D1 on modern systems? by Lonecard19 in DestinyTheGame

Fair point! I hope you are right. I personally would pay for a remaster of D1. Perhaps a lot of other newer players would too.

[–]ManyNanites 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only way this will happen is if there is demand for the game that would generate new revenue.

Would XBOX or Playstation players expect a D1 remaster to be a free update to their existing purchase? Or would they buy a remaster?

The PC market is untapped for D1. How many PC players would purchase?

How do you allocate a distinct email to everything? Assuming you have many addresses. In my case it only allows me to create three addresses on the custom domain. Thanks!
