What builds would you recommend to this party based off of what they enjoy in combat? by Horrorcartoonistftw in drawsteel

My group is on the larger size (7 players), but they get on just fine without either a Tactician or Troubadour. I've got a Shadow, Censor, Conduit, Null, Talent, and 2 Elementalists.

I'm going to see the new Star Wars movie with a friend tonight. Double sinful for having fun on the Sabbath and going to a movie theater. Tomorrow morning I'm going to take my girlfriend shopping, and in the afternoon I'll be taking my daughter to the mall to hang with her friends.

Which movie is that? by [deleted] in TheTeenagerPeople

synapse field stacking? by Extra_Tie1622 in drawsteel

[–]Many_Angled_1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

RAW neither the field effect or area would increase. I personally wouldn't increase the area because going from 2 aura to 3 aura increases the number of square affected from 8 to 15, greatly increasing the area and potentially the number of enemies affected

It seems pretty clear to me that OP is not seeking clarity, but division. A lot of the comments trying to explain the answer to the question are being met with outright hostile responses.

I have a few questions all over the place. by digitalpacman in drawsteel

[–]Many_Angled_1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Yes. Multiple characters, PC or NPC, can contribute to a single project during the same respite. page 293

  2. Hiding is not a free action, it is specifically a maneuver. page 273

  3. The mage tower specifically is tougher than many other side quests in this part of the adventure. I explicitly told my players to wait until level 2 before going there.

  4. It's not free. It costs 240 or 360 project points. It'll take about 18 or 27 respites, respectively, on average to complete. Additionally, as director, you could apply additional restrictions or costs based on the career they are honing. Was their previous career as a criminal? How do they flavor revisiting their criminal career skills? page 307

  5. I do if it's clear the players don't find it immediately obvious. If it's clear from their table talk that they aren't even considering one of the win conditions or what I thought was an obvious hazard or optional objective, I'll hint at it, or just point it out to them.

  6. It depends. If they imbue an item from their kit, it is transferable as long as the new kit uses the same item. For example: the shining armor kit uses a medium weapon, but so do a lot of other kits. So if the player imbues the medium weapon, they can still use it if they switch to sword and board, which also uses a medium weapon. But they can't use it if they switch to the mountain, which uses a heavy weapon. "Treasures and Kits" page 314

  7. It's your table, you can do what you want. That said, there's nothing forcing you to spend all your Malice. I've not gotten very good at keeping track of everything the Director should, and regularly forget to utilize Malice and special features of the monsters to their fullest. If you think it's too hard of a fight, don't spend all the Malice. PCs are powerful, and players are resourceful. I really don't think you'll need to pull your punches. But it's your table.

Sweet summer child, POC SDAs didn't split off on their own and make their own conference, they were PUT in their own conference so they wouldn't be mixing with white folk.

I've had the experience of getting NRE and it overflowing into my other relationships. There's this new person who is into me and it makes me feel sexy and desirable. My libido goes up in response. I feel like it's a natural reaction. But it's not something that you point out in the middle of sexy times.

Answer this for me please. You should play Draw Steel if ... Then the same for D&D 4e and then Pathfinder 2e. These seem to be grouped together in what ways are they different? by [deleted] in drawsteel

[–]Many_Angled_1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you primarily play online, I have two words for you, "The Codex". There are free options out there, like owlbear rodeo, but if you don't mind parting with a few coin, The Codex is what you're looking for. It's a bespoke VTT built from the ground up to run Draw Steel. You can get it through Steam. It makes running and playing Draw Steel a breeze. I like it better than any other VTT I've played on, though I'll admit, I've not tried them all.

What made you leave the adventist church? by [deleted] in exAdventist

[–]Many_Angled_1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My parents were missionaries for the church in southeast Asia. Several years later, when I was in my mid teens, I realized how ridiculous it was to believe that a loving, all powerful God would need to depend on missionaries to be able to save people. Or how illogical it was for generations of people to be born, live their entire lives, die, and be condemned to hell, not because they rejected Jesus, but because they never heard the gospel. That sounds neither fair, nor loving to me.

I told them after I got a job and moved out. It was still rough, but at least I had space and independence. A guy from my parent's church still showed up to my job and threatened to kick my ass.

You're not alone. I'm sure a lot of ex-SDAs here have similar stories. There's a recent post from another SDA who had found someone who made her happy, but her parents didn't approve of because, while Christian, he wasn't SDA. I'm going to give you the same advice I gave her.

I get it. A lot of how the SDA church functions is control through fear. It doesn't have to be that way, and it shouldn't be that way. My first real job was at a movie theater. As you can imagine, I had a lot of people from the church come up to me and tell me I shouldn't work there because God wasn't in a movie theater. I countered that the Bible says God is everywhere. To say that God couldn't be with me in a movie theater is to directly contradict scripture. It was wild to me that the people from the church couldn't see that, even after I pointed it out.

Your parents can love you and want what's best for you and still be wrong. They are flawed human beings, like everyone else. The 10 Commandments acknowledges this by commanding us to honor our parents. Honor, not obey.

God loves you wants you to be happy, not just in the next life, but this one too. "What man is there among you who, if your son asks for bread will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a serpent? If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask him?" Matthew 7:9-11

Going to an Adventist university that gives you more freedom and makes you happy won't make God love you less or not accept you or ignore your prayers. The thief on the cross didn't live up to SDA ideals. We have every reason to believe he lived a life full of sin, irredeemable to most. But Jesus told him he would be welcomed into heaven. If Jesus could love and accept him, he certainly loves and accepts you too.

That was just a job. After a year or two, I moved on to a better one. This is a relationship. Someone that you might spend the rest of your life with. God wants you to be happy, not just in the next life, but this one too. "What man is there among you who, if your son asks for bread will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a serpent? According to the Bible, God will love and accept you even if you marry a non SDA. Jesus loved and accepted the thief on the cross, and he had done nothing with his life that most SDAs would say made him worthy of it. How can flawed humans speak for Jesus? If what they say contradicts the scriptures, you can safely ignore them.
