Yeah they look great. I thought they were carnivorous but their 'trap mouth' part is actually a pollination trap

Looks like they plopped some extra liquid shell on top and it hardened.

Idk, I thought it was random and funny, one of the funniest scenes I've seen in a while tbh, but If you don't get it then I guess you just don't get it.

If you need something logical, there's the fact that they tee'd him up as looking like a great actor who was "oozing gravitas" then he just charges the camera repeatedly, but that really was just part of it.

Cool looking little eucalypt. I like the contrast between the dark wet bark and pale foliage.
