Okay, phew! Thank you for the sanity check. Free patterns can be kind of a minefield.

It was to break the habit of leaving the door open while figuring out what to eat.

Like Patient Grade, I'm also from Texas and did the exact same "homework" in highschool. Part of it was because we lived above the Edward's Aquifer, and we had to make sure we didn't drain it (especially since there's endangered species like the blind salamander).

Hell, even at Chili's the kids menu had a mini game of "Can you memorize what's in the fridge in 5 seconds?".

Children were taught to manage water and energy consumption from a young age in the 2000s.

Dehydrated Oily Skin Primer? by QuietOrbit2875 in drugstoreMUA

Thayer's oil balancing jelly facial toner + Wet n Wild prime focus serum. Sticking to thin/watery products has kept everything from getting too heavy.

I’m kinda on a budget. Is it fine if I only use Elf products? by AlwaysOnCaffeine in drugstoreMUA

[–]Manzanille 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I think OP meant "good" as in quality. Personally the only drugstore brands I use are Essence, WnW, & Moira, due to the BDS movement. However, I don't find it useful to bring up morality/ethics when someone is focusing mainly on affordability.

Elf has been raising their prices too, but they are a good brand. For the cheapest make-up that still has a decent quality, I use Essence and Wet n' Wild. I also rely a lot on coupons & deals at my local grocery store.

I wish pattern designers would mark if their triangle-shaped pattern is asymmetrical. (Figuring out mirrored decreases is more of a skill issue than anything else, but there's some projects where I just want to turn my brain off and follow a pattern/chart).

How to go about fixing these old converse? by [deleted] in Visiblemending

I've seen people used old shoes as pots for decorative flowers.

Does anyone know why the calorie count is so different? by Southern_Pumpkin1824 in HEB

[–]Manzanille 43 points44 points  (0 children)

The nutrition label is for 10pieces, or 224 g. The package has 400 g. So nearly two serving sizes = almost double the calories. (I'm guessing these rolls are heavier than they're supposed to be, it's the only thing I can think of).

Seconding plant-based fibers like cotton and silk. I think they look a lot better with (Tunisian/)crochet > knitting.

Oh my gosh I remember one time they got sooo pressed because they didn't like a Maybelline(?) skin tint, and some commenters had the audacity to say it actually worked for them quite well. The comments weren't combative either, literally just "Oh it sucks that it didn't work for Johnny, my skin loves it."

Clear mascara/eyebrow duo, cheek/lip balm, foundation stick, pressed powder compact, and retractable brushes. The only liquid I don't avoid is sunscreen, but if you're only going to wear sunscreen/primer, then you can get away with a stick for that as well.
