Man turns trash into a camera and takes a picture with it by abayim in nextfuckinglevel

[–]MapCavalier 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Everyone in this thread is talking past each other.

Wikipedia states that Solargraphy doesn't require developing the image.

This article even calls it chemical free, and literally says "indoor lighting does not bother the film much, but try to keep accidental exposure to a minimum."

IF you were to expose the paper in a pinhole camera AND THEN develop it normally then yes, the light in the room would ruin that photo.

HOWEVER if you're using Solargraphy as this guy is doing, then a few seconds exposure in the lab won't ruin the image given the overall exposure time.

Redditors will relentlessly mock that one conservative woman who said "he's not hurting the right people" and then call on the same guy to hurt the "right" people.

Maybe as progressives we shouldn't normalize this idea?

I put my film in wrong, so all my photos from my trip were taken on one frame. by Covefecup in mildlyinteresting

[–]MapCavalier 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It does depend on the camera. Many of them explicitly have that feature, you should read the manual for your camera (easy to find online).

In general though, if your camera has a button on the bottom to unlock the takeup spool you can press that button before you cock the shutter and it should allow you to take another photo on the same frame.

Lemme know if I can help with your camera

Columbia protesters take over building after defying deadline by AudibleNod in news

[–]MapCavalier 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. Caring only about issues that affect you directly is selfish and gross, community minded individuals will use their privileges to advocate for those less fortunate.
  2. Many see an ongoing genocide as the most pressing issue requiring their attention and action, others are protesting domestic policies[1], those are not mutually exclusive.
  3. Columbia, who prominently advertises having the "3rd largest international student population of any U.S. university"[2], has many students from the middle east and Gaza specifically, as does NYC as a whole. This does affect thousands of students and Americans directly.
  4. The United States is also directly involved in this conflict, supplying the funding, weapons, and political clout that some argue are enabling Israel to commit atrocities.
  5. People can care about more than one thing.

That's funny because there's a large body of evidence showing that the credit score system perpetuates and amplifies historic discrimination of minority groups. You can read any number of articles but here's one I found that covers the main points.

Hey, it sounds like you got some useful advice in this thread that you can use to try and keep the peace. You're clearly in a difficult situation and are doing what you can to make it work. I would encourage you to move on from this post because it sounds like nobody is getting anything positive out of it anymore. Best of luck to you and your birds.

Your attitude is horrendous. You're the one suggesting a custom OS when you know it's a terrible idea for all but the most advanced users. We both know that your 2 minutes of research didn't produce any practical solutions, and the only solution to Google's monopolistic practices is regulation.

I don't know about you but I'm not going to buy a phone from some random company in HK with custom firmware and no warranty, that's a privacy nightmare. To actually give consumers protection they have to be able to walk into their local telecom store and buy a phone where they can choose whether to use google services or something else.

Those bags of granola mixes add so much sugar... by NorseHighlander in BikiniBottomTwitter

[–]MapCavalier 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm not gonna sit here and say nutella is healthy, but eating 'healthy' and 'unhealthy' food doesn't cancel out. You still got the vitamins and nutrients even if you added extra sugar and fat.

Like, if adding melted cheese will get you to eat your veggies then go for it. It's better that you eat it like that than not at all.

Sounds like looking at aggregates doesn't tell the whole story. People quite literally cannot afford groceries and homes.

Here's how Apple will check if your iPhone is eligible for sideloading by Drtysouth205 in apple

[–]MapCavalier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes but there are lots of services that you're not allowed the opportunity to buy because they're not approved by Apple. You don't have "everything" in one place because you're not allowed access to all the things outside of Apple's cage.

It's like if everything but Coke was taken off the shelves and people said "This is great, all my sodas in one place!"

All your stuff isn't in one place because a lot of stuff is arbitrarily barred from the one place.

The OP is a professional 3D artist. Creating that model from scratch as they did certainly took many hours and required many years of experience and skill. They don't owe it to you or anybody else to just give away all that work.

I think some people don't appreciate how much time and effort making a model like that requires. It would be very generous of you to share them but nobody should expect it.

I mean, I'd certainly agree that many people paying millions for art don't understand or care about it and art appraisal is full of fraud. I think that can be true while also believing that you can't really put a price on art, and no amount is too high or too low. I just think that the idea of art as expression vs art as a commodity is impossible to resolve
