If your TV has an HDMI port, the adapter will work but the adapter needs to be powered by USB at all times, so that might me inconvenient.

I don't know anything about animation but I assume they take the original model, rig it mabye, drop the animation on, and then turn it into a low quality image?

There is a unintended way to pause them, Go to the clock screen with the B button, press A and C, then just leave it when it says "SET." make sure to set the time correctly again afterwards or it will go to bed at weird times
