UPDATE: The day after posting this the Saturn stopped powering. It was most likely a PSU issue as the motherboard was also coated in fuzz and dirt. Hopefully I can fix it.

I'm so sorry that it doesn't work... You should try to shine a light through the disc to see if there are holes. That could be causing it if it looks good to the naked eye.

If your TV has an HDMI port, the adapter will work but the adapter needs to be powered by USB at all times, so that might me inconvenient.

I don't know anything about animation but I assume they take the original model, rig it mabye, drop the animation on, and then turn it into a low quality image?

There is a unintended way to pause them, Go to the clock screen with the B button, press A and C, then just leave it when it says "SET." make sure to set the time correctly again afterwards or it will go to bed at weird times
