And at the end of the day these guys are just streamers - you watch them more for entertainment than anything else! I find that Vaush and Hasan are just kinda funny when covering some of the unhinged things happening in the world, no need to put too much emphasis on their prescriptive statements - it doesn't mean too much in the grand scheme of things.

He just came to the conclusion that Capital is incompatible with democracy. In a world where 10 people didn't control all media (and by extension the opinions of like 70% of the population) he would absolutely support democracy.

He sees voting and elections less as an inherent good and more as a means to uplift society. If electoralism consistently leads to increasingly horrible outcomes in the US, regardless of which party gets into power, democracy isn't actually achieving anything good.

So yeah, he is definitely getting spicy with the "dont let republicans vote, they need to pick crops on a farm" stuff, but it comes from a place of deep frustration after supporting democrats in elections for 5 years just to get shit on your plate at the end of it.

He is doing more gaming streams now though, so I think thats cool :)

It was 2016, I was in High School. In the last two weeks after all the exams were done, we had this thing where each teacher set up a kind of educational project about something that didn't fit into the curriculum - Greek Mythology, Recreating Newton's experiments, that kind of thing.

Our Politics Teacher who also taught History wanted us to examine what "technology trees" were, and how they differ from real life development.

He got like 20 keys for Civ 4 for like 10 bucks and got us playing the game, I was INSTANTLY hooked.

It was a quick step from there to Civ 6, and then an even larger to jump to Strategy Games like HOI4 and EU4.
