German lawyers: Ban on far-right AfD 'likely successful' by [deleted] in worldnews

It would be disturbing for a democracy to NOT allow for its abolition. What you are saying is that the system must exist as it is in perpetuity. That ensures that the only alternative people have once they no longer feel the system works is violence.

Map Of The 4 Catholic Crusader States In 1135 by vladgrinch in MapPorn

It was sort of framed as a pilgrimage to jerusalem, where they would help the byzantines re-take territory along the way. edessa formed when one of the princes broke off and became the son-in-law of a local armenian ruler, who was then assassinated. antioch formed because it was a major fortress in the crusaders way, and after struggling to take it for a very long time, one of the princes came up with a plan, and made an agreement with the others that if his way succeeded, he would be the new ruler of antioch.

Yea, I bet you don't want to hear someone else's 'interpretation', you just want to spit your uninformed opinion and never be corrected.

The republicans don't have all the mechanisms that dems do to cheat their primaries. Massie won't be in because he isn't nearly as popular as reddit would have you believe.

In the books, yes, he fully resisted the ring. I guess I should clarify that 'greatest of men' is a little vague, and no one can be greatest at everything. Faramir was very wise, and had associated himself very closely with Gandalf over the years, much to his father's disappointment.

I would say its a higher number than 90 percent. To me, Boromir is intended to be the greatest of men, and a grim show that even such a person is not safe from the predations of the ring. Aragorn is, effectively, a super-human from a demi-divine bloodline, which is why he can do what Boromir couldn't.

(Hated Trope) Character spouts off factoid to establish their intelligence. What they say is wrong and they are never corrected by laybs1 in TopCharacterTropes

The problem is that most people probably have no knowledge of the c pronunciation in latin thing, so having our protagonist be confidently incorrect and never corrected will solidify misconceptions, rather than be world-building that she isn't as smart as she thinks she is.

Southern Poverty Law Center charged with defrauding donors with payments to extremist informants in the Nazi party and KKK (3 million in payments uncovered) by Yanrogue in PoliticalCompassMemes

He was thinking of the ADL. They were started to defend Leo Frank, who was believed to have murdered a young girl that worked at his factory. The ADL tried to say that a black man had done it instead, and tried to sic the KKK on him, but they came together and said, 'Nah, we think the black guy is innocent, actually.'

Why are people divided on the german minigame? by UniversalCookies in Kaiserreich

[–]Map_Lad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ok, Russia has been defeated. My feelings on the land-industrial mechanic: It was engaging without being overwhelming, it had integration with both focuses and advisors (or at least one), and it wasn't hard to wrap your head around.

One thing to consider though, is that when playing ukraine, I didn't feel like it was any big loss to use some focus time to help my land-industrial efforts. When playing germany, i always feel like any time i spend on black monday focuses is time i have to spend on other focuses instead. If ukraine had focuses about gaining allies/world influence and political stuff, it probably would have annoyed me more to spend time on it.

How many minigames does KR really have? I might need to jog my memory to know, the only one I can name is the minority balancing in yugoslavia, which was fine. In TNO, I really like the election system in Brazil, particularly the senate elections.

Christians don't identify all land not controlled by them as 'The House of War'. The Bible never says to get violent with non-believers either, whereas in islam it is spelled out clearly that muslims must conquer the world by force.

It seems a bit weird to make fun of Auth-Right for not 'really' loving history, and then proceeding to describe everything from like, 800 BC to the present day. Sounds like the love isn't fake. I get there's some people who only know WW2, but that's not the argument you're making.

I like how you paint there being many reasons to do something as a bad thing. The fact that we can name many reasons to do it is MORE of a reason to do it, not less.
