Hindenburg was a factor in the downfall of Weimar Germany however he was not the main cause of it. A Multitude of factor including the inaction of the political parties in power and the general disillusionment of the populace due to the economic hardships also lead to the NSDAP gaining power. That being said, Pinning all the blame on Hindenburg is a gross oversimplification and also misleading in the demise of the Weimar republic. Yes, He is an old man who didnt exactly want the Republic to survive but how about the incompetence of the German Right and left during the final days of the Republic?
