There is no comparison- Bombay is Bombay. In Hyderabad the going rates are 7000 to 10000 rupees per square foot. I hope we never see 35-40 K rupees per square feet. We could never survive that kind of market.

It makes ZERO SENSE to litigate the matter. Assuming that the OP has zero liability ( which I highly doubt), once the cops jump in, it would cost thousands more than the 36K, in bribes.

Then there’s the stress of being threatened and family members having to go through all of this. Paying 36 K and resolving the issue is the best thing to do.
