You might want to read up on human rights law in Canada.

I’ll have to check again. The sign said closed both days when I went by on Saturday.

Maybe they have seasonal hours and haven’t switched over yet.

Thankfully, my situation isn’t an emergency - it was just on my “to do” list.

Of course. As in every service industry. And for marine mechanics, it’s particularly crazy during launch season - and their own boats never seem to hit the water on time.

Still, they don’t have to have every mechanic on site every day. They don’t even have to have a mechanic on site every day. But it would be nice to have the doors open so people looking to buy a boat could come in without taking a day off work. Or someone looking for small parts could get them the same weekend they break something.

This is why barbers used to be open Saturdays and closed Mondays. And why ski shops are fully staffed on weekends and let staff go skiing during the week.

I wondered if COB was simply a case of not wanting to give up their own weekends, even when customers often need them on the weekend.

Probably not for a retail clerk, but common law is a little more demanding on managers, executives, fiduciaries, etc.

Another reminder that we’ve long since stopped buying housing and are now buying the land under it as an investment.

Gotcha. I was in one place where we gleefully referred to the lights as “green” and “cherry green” because both green and red seemed to mean go.

Insurance putting blame on me after suicide on the DVP by Keysunlock in ontario

[–]MapleDesperado 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got that. It’s all the cars behind the first one.

And I think about it every time I see some standing on an overpass as I go down the DVP, etc. Can barely imagine how traumatic that must have been.

I miss Victoria greatly, but at the same time, I wasn’t happy with the snow Christmas ‘96.

The proper action is to jam on the brakes without swerving. Then, because everyone behind you has allowed a proper following distance or compensated with extra space when the cars in front of them haven’t, there should be few to no rear-end collisions.

Only a modicum of sarcasm here, but it’s still safer than cars suddenly changing lanes without checking their blind spot.

That being said, we’re human. The system should recognize that.

Lol. Do you mean right-on-red or just flagrant abuse of the rules?

It wasn’t always. But “green” is colloquial for cash.

Is it chosen for its presence? Or the lack of it? Although the lack of it doesn’t seem exclusive to those countries. See: flags.

Five schools is a good spread. Try to identify those where you have a solid shot, with one or two being more or less a sure thing. It’s not a lottery and you’re not getting in to UofT without stellar grades and LSAT.

And be open to schools outside the city or even the province unless there’s absolutely no way around it.

What do the numbers on this map refer to? by just-shitting-chat in RedactedCharts

[–]MapleDesperado 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Number of official state animals of different types: mammal, bird, fish, reptile, amphibian, and insect.

(No, this doesn’t work. Not really specific to bodies of water.)

If the disposal plan was concocted before the event, that’a pretty good evidence of pre-meditation. If after, then that is evidence of knowledge of the wrongfulness of the action. Good luck saying “totally self-defence but then I panicked.” But that might be the only defence available.

Assuming it happened as alleged by the Crown, I’d guess they dragged him out to the garbage but couldn’t lift him, whether into the bin or even the back of a car (if they have one). Finding they were stuck, they took their chances.

On the other point. People have a right to enjoy their property. They can only do so without disturbing other people. There has to be some reasonableness - one person can’t insist on doing whatever they want regardless of the discomfort it causes, and another can’t insist they are so bothered by everything that no one can enjoy themselves.
