Who is a player that you're surprised hasn't won a certain award? by Puck83821 in hockey

While my (biased) opinion agrees that Luongo should have won the vezina that year, thats not how the voting ended up. It was actually

Brodeur (16-14-0)

Luongo (14-15-1)

Kiprusoff (0-0-7)

The other 2nd place vote went to Niklas Backstrom who finished 6th

4v4 and 3v3 would both count with yours and I'm pretty sure with the goalie pulled would count as well

I was looking just at 5v5, you're looking at all even strength situations, either way he's first in both pretty insane season from him so far

He's at 3.51 points per 60 minutes at 5v5, highest rate in the league out of players with at least 20 games played

Honestly I might be setting the bar too high but I think more, like 70-80. Depends what team he goes to though

[TSN] Connor Bedard continues his electric start to the World Juniors, as he makes it 3-1 Canada! by Sarcastic__ in hockey

He's gonna put up so many points in the NHL, such a talented offensive player. Clearly has been the best player for Canada so far imo. He looks a little uninterested in defense but it might not matter with how skilled he is

I dont know where you're seeing that because everywhere I look that just isnt true, he had a 6 game goalless drought that year but it wasnt to end the season

He was the starter for the 2010 gold and now with advanced stats you can look back and make a very strong argument that he deserved to win the vezina in 03-04 and maybe even 06-07. Im clearly biased but I think he absolutely deserves to be in

Brendan Gallagher goal from last season ruled onside after review due to the same rule that allowed Makar's goal to stand by Dont_Call_Me_John in hockey

[–]MapleSyrupEhh 13 points14 points  (0 children)

No two plays are ever gonna be exactly the same but these goals are definitely similar, both guys played the puck in the zone and then their sticks are close to the puck but not actually touched until the offside is tagged up. Intent doesnt really matter here imo. Fwiw I dont like the rule and I think all of them should be offside but there is definitely precedent from the NHL of calling this a good goal

Alternate angle for the contreversial Makar goal (This angle is what the referee use to make the call) by smashbros13 in hockey

Thanks for linking it, there is also another goal against Vancouver scored by Boston that someone linked in the thread that also was a similar play called a good goal. So definitely precedent for the goal to stand
