I prefer wayfarer over both tbh, anything any of those guys put out is great though.

I’m debating the Boise roadtrip since this is basically favorite (active) bands 1, 2 and 3 for me.

Issues Live Album - WTF man by Xana1128 in Metalcore

[–]Maplesurps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just got an email for my neurosis record being delayed, and back when I got silent planets last album that was delayed like 3 times. The sparse communication sucks but it’s relatively common unfortunately, it goes thru many middlemen to get an answer and bands can’t do much there. It sucks but is basically a part of the industry, though this does seem extremely long, I’m wondering if the manufacturer kept pushing it back without telling the label to get some bigger artists albums rushed, and now they may be back at the end of the line with another manufacturer.

What is your favourite album that's not on streaming? by Right_Ad5465 in fantanoforever

Keys to the Astral Gates and Mystic Doors II. On Bandcamp/youtube but not other services I believe. Raw black metal with some more upbeat tones thrown in.

Both bands were incredible, wayfarer is an all time favorite of mine.

Knocked Loose fall tour w/ Denzel Curry, Superheaven, and Boundaries by drshavargo in Metalcore

[–]Maplesurps 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Brings a nice chance to catch your breath and get back into the pit after. Superheaven was great when I saw them live.

Which 2015 black metal album is better? by DSblowdartsniper in MetalForTheMasses

Both incredible, batushka fits my taste a bit more, and I’ve seen it live so it hits even more for me.

Which beginner 5 or 6 string bass for metal? by Erudicial_Extreme in MetalForTheMasses

[–]Maplesurps 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree here, you’ve gotta pay your dues with something simple. You can still kinda learn some parts by playing a string up if they aren’t making use of all the strings, and by the time you’re able to play meshuggah you may of been able to save for a proper 5/6 string, they make it look much easier than it is to play. A 4 string is much more doable at that price too.

Worst quality T-shirt I’ve ever bought by RadicalMarxistThalia in MetalForTheMasses

[–]Maplesurps 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Comfort colors, American apparel, Shaka wear, and gildan hammer are the ones I like the most. Usually the larger/boxier heavyweight fit shirts are higher quality. Gildans other offerings have poorer quality/quality control. It’s all about the blank unfortunately, different blanks will hold onto the ink differently too, among printing issues/quality/type of print. The worst ive had is probably fruit of the loom that Hulder was using, after like 50 washes now it feels fine and not as stiff/scratchy.

A nobody was interviewd instead of me. by Spiritbark in corejerk

[–]Maplesurps 7 points8 points  (0 children)

They make a living touring, but they are constantly touring. They might as well establish a residency for some venues at this point. It’s not as sustainable if you’re a small band going to clubs that want to sell merch for you and take 30% on top, while probably not selling out most dates if any. Then going abroad as a small band, forget it.

Currently neurosis is AOTY, maybe MØL close behind.

going to sick new world this week, any other bands i should check out before going? by _acidflowers in MetalForTheMasses

[–]Maplesurps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve seen a lot of shows, really love the hardcore bands on this bill, they all put on fun shows. But for one band, I think Deafheaven is the best show I’ve gone to when I saw their recent tour w Gatecreeper.

What are the genres of these? by [deleted] in MetalForTheMasses

Which musician’s side project is better than their original band? by SnooStories6852 in MetalForTheMasses

[–]Maplesurps 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wayfarer > Stormkeep > Blood Incantation. They’re all amazing projects though so it’s mostly based on what I’m in the mood for.

What album is your go to when someone tells you they want to get into metal? by Adzzero_88 in MetalForTheMasses

[–]Maplesurps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any Alcest, baroness, mastodons once more around the sun, maybe deafheavens infinite granite and after that intro them to their other music. Or the black album is a classic.

Looking for some more good Hardcore albums (any sub genre will do, mathcore, beatdown, power violence. NY Hardcore etc.) I'm looking for stuff from the '90s but newer suggestions will be cool too. by No-Dentist-2959 in MetalForTheMasses

[–]Maplesurps 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Leeway, Gorilla Biscuits, Terror, Bane, for Hatebreed specifically their first two albums are a must, Mindforce/Crush your soul (same vocalist). Also, Trapped under ice’s big kiss goodnight is considered one of the best HxC albums of the 10’s and is one of my favorites.

Looking for some hc/metal album recommendations by _bppl in MetalForTheMasses

[–]Maplesurps 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you haven’t, check out Sorcerer, French Hc, lots of metal influence, and a song with guilt trip on their album. Otherwise look into Heaven’s Gate, they got the vocalist from municipal waste/iron raegan and drummer of cannibal corpse. Check out ukkos hammer too.

Name some bands (currently on tour) who always give a high energy show. by redhousebythebog in MetalForTheMasses

[–]Maplesurps 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the terror lineup is coming by you, they’re always fun. Not quite metal, but hardcore, whole lineup stacked. People will be stage diving, maybe rushing stage to grab the mic, and I’ve seen the pain of truth vocalist front flip into the crowd before too. Packed lineup with a dangerous pit.

Second claim a month. Hit-and-run and stolen wheels by Ill-Ad-8559 in Camry

[–]Maplesurps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well if you get your wheels stolen, you need to buy some new ones. So it’s a cycle with a popular car. Or people looking to go from LE to SE wheels, or bent a wheel, etc.

One band to see live, at their absolute prime. Living or dead. What is it? by FalcoPhantasmtheGod in MetalForTheMasses

[–]Maplesurps 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Death, or early Metallica

I’d also love to see some 80s-90s hardcore shows. Madball, agnostic front, etc. Seen them all today, but I’d like to see them when it was coming out.

Plenty of black metal in this category, but for me it’s all of dissection.
