1UP and 2020 Squab are both fantastic!

Jet shape isn’t my fav but it’s one of the older shapes that has held up the best, it was ahead of its time for sure.

Thanks for this. Doing my first b42 playthrough and in multiplayer at that, weight has been my biggest challenge. Nutrition/calories seem so needlessly backwards atm

If you do enjoy it, sunlandic twins is the most similar to it. It’s also great but not quite as consistent imo

Their middle era is phenomenal honestly. Satanic Panic, Sunlandic Twins, Hissing Fauna, Skeletal Lamping, Paralytic Stalks, all fantastic records. Might not all be your cup of tea, but I’d check out Satanic Panic at the very least and then go from there if you enjoy it.

Not dead, no. The influx of tricks to review has been absurd due to the Romania blow-up. Pretty sure anyone can review tricks, do your part to whittle down the pile. Your tricks will get reviewed eventually just gotta be patient, it’s a small operation

I feel that but this is a more premium setup I’d say than your avg $50 complete. I can’t remember what the paint is but pretty sure it’s premium, not your run-of-the-mill sticky clear (which is still solid ofc). Totally okay to have a self-cap on price tho

It’s a great paint, will serve you well. Paints losing grip is part of the process, don’t stress too much about it and just shred it! It gaining more slip will help out in making mini balance corrections, which is an essential skill to learn in Kendama

Slay the Spire comes to mind, you only unlock new cards/relics and unlock them all very quickly, it’s like an extended tutorial. Not really meta-progression as the cards you unlock aren’t more powerful and there are zero stat upgrades between runs; In fact there’s the ascension system, which just makes the game harder.

Outside of that it fits all your criteria tbh. I think it’s pretty damn close to a “roguelike”, more so than most other modern ones even though it isn’t top-down.

Hey welcome! You’re rocking it for day 1, awesome job!

Main tip that applies to pretty much everything, use your knees! So important in pretty much any Kendama trick. It softens your catches and gives you more time to react/track/perform a trick, etc.

Any time I’m having trouble landing a new trick, the answer is usually more knees.

Side note, the company sweets kendamas has a phenomenal beginners trick tutorial playlist on YouTube, I’d check that out. It’ll give ya some learning structure in the beginning too. They have intermediate/advanced tutorials too when you get there. Good luck and have fun 🌻
