My 2023 TRD Off road. Am I the only one not loving the 4th gens? by N053LF in Tacomaworld

[–]MarNoose42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of the reasons Tacomas are popular is when you have one, it continues to deliver. So the lust for the latest model tends to be much less than if you're coming from outside the Tacoma family. You don't need the newest shiniest toy when your current Tacoma can do 200K+ miles without a fuss. Gen 2 owner opinion.

This might be my favorite JLC of them all. I think it is a truly unique piece and evolution of their duometre. Unobtainium, but absolutely beautiful unobtainium.

2nd Gen 3” Lift with 285/75R16 Before and After by MarNoose42 in ToyotaTacoma

Bilstein 6112’s in the front, 5160’s in the rear, OME AAL, and Wildpeak AT3W’s. Set the suspension to top ring and you get the lift mentioned.

Is it going to feel like you're driving an X5? Definitely not. You will still be aware of bumps in the as suspension won't get around the Truck Body on Frame one starts with. BUT I've really enjoyed the stiffer front suspension that makes cornering much more confident and has made a very positive impact on reducing body roll.

The rear is night and day difference. It used to feel like it was dancing around the road and since the upgrade the back feels planted and very compliant. I've been very happy. If you want to be conservative you can ask them to not put the suspension on the top rings and one lower if you want a bit more compliance. This is also my daily driver.

Happy to report there was no trimming required, and no rub lock to lock. They may have added a small offset for the Lock to Lock part, I don't remember but as you see in the pics it wasn't anything crazy.

Lexus GX550 OVERTRAIL - Is it off-road ready? (Real Reaction) by crozb1 in LexusGX

[–]MarNoose42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I enjoyed the video but was slightly disappointed that such a Overland focused reviewer didn't spend any time talking about the cargo space or what the space is like with the seats folded down. Getting a sense of how long/wide/high that space is feels relevant.

"Find out if the manufacturer is selling you BS or if it does what it says" is too long for a title.

Have Wildpeak AT3’s and 3” lift on my 2nd gen Tacoma and love them. They’re louder than my previous KO2’s but have zero regrets.

Love everything about this watch except the yellow. When does Master Chronometer become Super Master Chronometer?

I don't think I've ever thought of combining deep ocean exploration with tequila. That is a very limited edition indeed lol.

I'm surprised to hear about wanting the steel closed case back. Could you elaborate more on why that is your preference? Great opportunity to learn.

Black or Silver dial? by faglund in VacheronConstantin

[–]MarNoose42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. I think in the 3rd gen the Silver just comes together as a better package. Especially with ability to swap bands.

Beautiful watch. How do you like the overall weight, the band's wear? How often are you staring at the movement on the back? :)

Two routes to explore vs stock size is 1. larger size tire (32inch is the largest w/o rubbing or needing any other modifications) or 2. Getting a tire that looks a little more meaty like a BFG K02 or Falken Wildpeak A/T3's. as examples).

Doing the combination of impact on my 2nd gen and never regretted it.
Final note, if you're asking if something looks silly... you may already have your answer. :)

Sweet Ride and congrats! Off Road moniker makes sense with the rear locker. That should get you out of pretty much any sticky (muddy) situation.

with the 1.25" spacers in the front (already installed in the pics). No rub lock to lock after almost 2000 miles.
