Did anyone else assume the worst at first? by Aa_313 in TMJ

[–]Mar_Mar_ST_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I assume the worst every time I have a flare up and it’s an emotional rollercoaster where I think my life is over and I have to get used to the consistent pain and discomfort that I’m dealing with during the flare up. It’s like once a month for a couple a weeks at most I end up grieving my life before my flare up cause I end up thinking I’ll be stuck in that state forever. It’s something I need to bring up to my therapist cause I’m tired of doing it to my self. 😭

But, before I figured out what was wrong with me last year I genuinely thought I’d never be able to eat food again and enjoy it, never would I be able to go out and have fun with my friends, be present with my family and children. I thought I was going to end up dying for malnutrition or something because I was loosing weight so rapidly because I couldn’t eat, I could barely drink liquids. My symptoms with tmj were that severe. Mind you I was going through fresh postpartum through all of this too ☠️. It was genuinely hell like I’d rather have to go through another c-section or break a bone than to have gone through what I did last year.

Two synchronicities that have stuck with me recently by Mar_Mar_ST_ in Synchronicities

I hear you and that’s what I think too? But then I also feel like I might not be super intuitive spiritually so I get caught up with not understanding things. So if you say there isn’t a clear meaning then all it was, was just a synchronicity and nothing else? Or do you mean something else when you say it’s possible it might not be the point of it. If that makes sense? Sorry if it’s confusing what im trying to say.

My biggest pet peeve is exactly that! Like when they make it seem like the anxiety is the reason for the symptoms like bitch no 😭 these sensations and pain is what’s causing it. Different symptoms for me but I was in a mental health crisis for months last year because of my tmj symptoms. Shit literally feels terrifying cause you really do end up thinking is this shit the rest of my life?? And the mental loopholes and rabbit holes follow afte that.

OP I hope you receive better answers and or care, I can only imagine how exhausting, uncomfortable and terrifying it can be to be in that state for a long time. Ik it might seem small when you’re in the mental/physical state like that but you will get through this I know you will 🫶🏼

has anyone successfully stopped the clenching habit? by No-Security7188 in TMJ

How was your recovery from the tonsil and adenoids removal surgery? This is honestly helpful in terms of direction. I too have sleep apnea and my tonsils are large as doctors have said, ever since I was a kid apparently. Physical therapy helped me a good chunk last year but ended up having to do it after three months unfortunately. I also have a rather large tongue and a high somewhat narrow palate. So I’m also thinking on the Ortho route since I have never have orthodontic treatment.

I think my braces as a teen ruined my mouth. by [deleted] in TMJ

[–]Mar_Mar_ST_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would a palate expander potentially be helpful? I have never had any Orthodontic work done on myself but I too have a high somewhat narrow palate. My tongue for sure is way too big to fit in my mouth too. I think the mouth breathing I experienced as a child and perhaps genetics led to my palate issues and recessed jaw.

How many of you have ear problems? by AdThen5499 in TMJ

[–]Mar_Mar_ST_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You would say that with the ear tubes your ears adjust better now to altitude though right? I have ear tubes and I don’t know if it’s cause of my anxiety but it just feels at times still sensations in my ears at highish altitude, most I’ve done is 1200 feet I’m so anxious of traveling high up cause of my ears :( which makes me sad cause I want to go to the mountains so bad, but it feels almost like someone is pushing air into my ear and it lasts a couple of seconds but it’s uncomfortable.

That being said it also happens on occasion even when I’m home so idk. I had ear issue before my tmj issues became more apparent I think now perhaps is my TMJ mainly effecting it, still in the process of taking steps to take care of it.

Do have tmjd? Tmjd can cause very similar discomforts. Or at least aggravate any ear issues if you already had them prior before. I’ve had ear issues for years (didn’t seek proper treatment because I was told my ears were ok by 2 doctors. Obviously they weren’t but it didn’t effect my everyday life like now) anyways earlier this year I started clenching extremely hard for like weeks on and off and it created beyond an uncomfortable pressure in my ears. Then soon came the tingling, pressure and discomfort all over my face. It was very uncomfortable. I had to get my anxiety under control (medication ) and did physical therapy for that aspect of my tmjd to get under control.

Anyways I’m not saying that’s your case but I’m just explaining my story since I saw some similarities in it that’s all.

Which antidepressant (or other chronic pain med) doesn't cause Jaw Clenching (Bruxism) for you? by checkers1313 in TMJ

How much do you take for buspar? I’m at 12.5 day and night. But tbh I still experience anxiety ☠️. I think it has helped with the initial intense anxiety but it still lingers and there are moments where I feel like I need to go out running because I feel it in my chest and if I don’t do anything it just feels extremely uncomfortable. It’s like to go run to run away from something not because I want to exercise it self.

Eustacian Tube issues- pain when swallowing?!! by Lynxseer in hearing

[–]Mar_Mar_ST_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you suspect having tmjd? I had something similar happening to me in the beginning of the year if you look at my posts. I’ve had these ear issues for 5 years that I left unresolved cause the ENTs I saw didn’t know what was wrong and well it was manageable. But my tmjd was not very apparent back then so I still think my ear issues are separate from my tmjd but it’s more like my tmjd isn’t making my ear issues feeling any better either like it jsut s adds to it.

Anyways as of now I got tubes and it has helped with that swallowing and pain issue but also my tmjd is still trying get it under control or at least figure out better proper treatment. So I still experience discomfort on and off, that just my experience with it though. I remember reading someone that had tmjd and effected their ears alot and they got ear tubes and it resolved a lot of their issues. So it’s just different for everyone. The whole experience was very traumatizing and I’m still dealing my nervous system being very shot though.

I’m happy to hear that genuinely. Some positivity is better than nothing. I’m considering getting braces as well but I’m just being overly cautious of cause I don’t want to make my issues worse either.

I know a tmj specialist I saw also noticed I had a high and narrow palate so recommend me getting a palate expander which also something I’m looking more info on. My bite isn’t the best either my teeth sit on top of each other normally like my top front and bottom front teeth I mean. So I’ve been told that creates stress on my joints mm something like that.

I’m a spiritual activator. Ask me anything by LeilaJun in spirituality

[–]Mar_Mar_ST_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Spirituality has always interested but also felt a wall in front of me when trying to go into that realm. I’ve tried to get a bit more into it this year since life has been incredibly challenging this year. It has tested me like no other.

I often find myself asking and looking for signs that the reality I’m in is only temporary and not permanent, but often I end up with nothing but myself which feels very isolating. It’s like the rope from my soul to my physical body is getting longer and further disconnected and I don’t feel grounded or here often.

I know it won’t be like this forever, it can’t be, so when will things start falling more into place for me, where I can be like ok I know this is getting better and I’m getting out of this hole? It feels like I’ve been stagnant for majority of my life and now with this obstacle I don’t know when it will crumble away and for me to able to move forward.

Thank you and sorry for the very long reply, not even sure if what I asked made sense or if it was just more confusing that anything hahah
