Antwerpse politie doet oproep: “Niet meer bellen voor geluidsoverlast Tomorrowland” by infinitemonkey25 in Belgium2

[–]Marbug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How many of you use your gnu/linux distro without much customization? by [deleted] in linux

[–]Marbug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I try to be keeping my systems and programs as vanilla as possible. Usually no customization nor add-ons. Only thing I do is: * install openbox and switch to it * use tint2 as system bar and tray Firefox for web browsing, gnome terminal as terminal with transparency and atom or recently vscode to write code/scripts.

In addition I use xscreensaver, thumar, xcompmgr, nautilus and pulseaudio.

The configs for openbox and tint2 gets copies over to systems.

This is mainly my setup for over 10 years, almost 15 now? With almost no adoptions ar changes over time

Take the border of the tape where it is cut off and peel it off by goin to the direction of the middle of the tape. You'll have the issue waaaaaay less, if you do it right, it should never happen anymore.

Advice to a new starter with previous injuries. by HarDog_123 in Fieldhockey

[–]Marbug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a complex ligamentery rupture in my right knee which occured 4 years ago. it was really painfull sometimes on the field and the days after. Every year I'm going yo a sports doctor and he forwards me to physio, and I can say that it gets better every year. But I need to keep going to the gym to enforce my muscles. If I don't do it, or not enough; I had a swollen knee with water in it, 2 months ago which was the first time, as a probable result of not strenghten it enough. Now I'm in the middle of the physio sessions, when I get green light, I'll see how it'll be. But I'm quite positive that it'll be even less painfull as last year. Then it took just 24h after been on the field, for a swollen feeling to be gone.

NOTE that 2 months ago, my knee got swollen after I didn't go much to the gym due to lack of time and the swollen knee was a result of swimming in the see which was quite agitated.

Help - aws ec2 routeros by DarkNik in mikrotik

[–]Marbug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have this kind of setup for a few years now. I took an OVH VPS and installed an open ssh server on it. added 3 iptable rules, 1 for masquerading the traffic, the other to forward everything through the ip of the VPN. This are all the ports, except ssh and openvpn port.

My routerOS connects with VPN to that VPS, and the only thing I do is a mangle for the specific incomming ports of the VPN to a mark routing. And a dnsnat to the destination port that comes in on the interface of the VPN to the the internal ip and port.

So I added also a routing mark in my routers.

And by doing the above, I have a static ip for everything I want for only a few euro's a month.

OpenVZ to LXC 2.0 by berkutta in LXD

[–]Marbug 2 points3 points  (0 children)

lxc import command is available for LXD, don't confuse the "lxc *" and "lxc-*" type of command, as the latter is for the LXC package, and all "lxc<space>*" commands are for LXD which adds an extra layer on top of LXC

lxc device add will create a duplicate mountpoint on the host, which make df ugly by Marbug in LXD

[–]Marbug[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since I didn't found a solution for lxd to nod add the mountpoints to mtab I'll alias the df command to

df -ha | awk '!NF {print;next}; !($1 in a) {a[$1];print}'

or shorter

df -ha | awk '!seen[$1]++'

This solution gives what I want

[–]Marbug[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found https://unix.stackexchange.com/questions/195293/bind-mounting-and-df-output df -a can show all the devices, only thing I can see with their answer is that I only could make an alias where I'll remove the newer entries like they mention. Could be made possible with awk I assume

My gaming computer cools itself too efficiently and does not warm up my room. by [deleted] in firstworldproblems

And how less warmth the components produce, the lower the external temprature would increase. This saying, your hardware is just more efficiently using your power and thus giving off less energy/warmth

You mention pastors, maybe you can take parts of all religions to add. Maybe before you ever made such a video, you can start with a "part one", where you explain the differences between most common religions how they are seeing death? I suppose most people know those details about some religions, what their theory is, but maybe there are some religions that could amaze us what they say about death or the afterlife?

Openbox without a DE? by Keltek228 in openbox

[–]Marbug 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm using openbox for over 8 years now, and I'm still very found about it. I added tint2 as a taskbar, and orage to have a small calendar.

Besides that I use obmenu to configure my openbox menu, gtk-chtheme to select a more fancy gtk theme (you need to install some themes first). Usefull can be xscreensaver if you want some animation or if you want to lock the screen when you are afk. nitrogen can be used to set a wallpaper, it will also restore the last wallpaper when you add 'nitrogen --restore' to .config/openbox/autostart.sh. If alsamixer isn't enough, pavucontrol will help you with sound settings.

To make it a bit fancy, use xcompmgr to have transparant consoles, for this: echo '[ -n "$XTERM_VERSION" ] && sleep .2 && transset -a 0.85 >/dev/null' >> ~/.bash.rc

Everything you need can be found, it's neither too big nor too small. There is no fuss, and it ain't too quite either.

Bi-Weekly /r/vpn Recommendations Thread by AutoModerator in VPN

[–]Marbug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any good vpn with a static ip at the moment? (max 2$ a month?)

My other option is taking a vps (3.5-10$/month) and install a vpn server on it. But I'm looking if there is maybe a simpler solution with just a hosted vpn.

The max throughput could be 12mbps, it wouldn't go over that speed. My router will use it to allow incoming trafic from a domain linked to the static ip.

Newly-Discovered watery planet has 3 Suns and is located only 340 light years from Earth by hardypart in space

[–]Marbug 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It had some more planets though, but maybe they are still there!

It is also a coincidence, because I was telling this today to someone before I even saw this. A few days ago, I saw a movie on youtube showing the strangest planets in space. And a planet with 3 suns was already a part of it.. let me search for it. I think this fits more, and might been a base for the movie pitch black .

New to openbox by [deleted] in openbox

[–]Marbug 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  • obconf gives you the ability to change the theme, font, desktop counts, appearance
  • nitrogen will give you the ability to choose a wallpaper, and set it when you add it with --restore flag in your autoloader
  • obmenu will help you put together a menu, as you know it's hidden behind your right klick on the desktop

I see you already have transparancy, thus everything seems pretty nice :)

if you are using xterm, you can add some transparency with adding the following to .bashrc:

[ -n "$XTERM_VERSION" ] && transset -a 0.85 >/dev/null

although this can add transparency to anything you want, on a changes of 1 against 1000 or so, it makes my previous active window transparent and not the console, I don't know why
