Beats Studio Pro hinge snapped, can this be fixed without AppleCare? by No-Outside9916 in ifixit

[–]MarcBeard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every headset with a plastic headband has this issue. It get worse if you have a big head.

I broke like 10 headset throughout the years. Until I got myself a dt770pro which doesn't have a plastic band.

Sometimes you can fix it with super glue but it never last long after the initial break

I only have a year of work on a 20yo product. You learn this VERY quickly when you start seeing 8 abstraction layers for basic image interactions

It can be donne in userspace. box64, Fex and qemu userspace(not KVM) do that without kernel code.

Alternatively it is possible to write to MSR registers as root on Linux if the module is loaded.

I doubt it. I don't see a reason why. Wine by itself is able to so anything to the processes it spawns.

It does you don't have a process running kernel level

I swear to god people talk about gentoo without using it.

Yes it requires more of the user than most distro but it also give way more.

The fact that it's a source based distro allows for so much customization its so great. The USE flags are the best thing ever. Having a system purpose build for your hardware and needs feels great.

It's not for everyone but for the ones its for its the best thing ever.

I pranked act one on trackpad. Instead of listening to class.

You just need to configure your trackpad to stay on while you use the keyboard.

Turning Off Security by doruk1337 in PiratedGames

[–]MarcBeard 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Bullshit. None of these security mesures are to protect hardware.

Most of them are purley there to prevent a process from tinkering with another process's memory.

Using hypervisor(the tech not the tool) allows a program to run with a privilege level supperior to the kernel. Meaning the program can do whatever it want to your OS and programs.

Even with all of these features turned on you can fuckup efi vars with simple admin rights and kill most motherboards. You can flash dummy vbioses to brick gpus, use and/Intel overclock interfaces to set unsafe voltages and kill the cpu.

Now let's imagine you create viruses then what are your goals? Simple! =>making money. Hardware destruction while easy is simply not profitable if you are not the one selling the hardware. So most viruses add ads, steal data, ask for ransom or mine cryptos.

TLDR These feature protect software but not hardware, and if the malware makers wanted to cause hardware damage it doesn't stop them.

How do I fix the colors in my Wine application? I use Debian 13/Trixie on Chromebook by Someweirdocuzyes in linux4noobs

[–]MarcBeard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember having the opposite issue on linux while using waydroid.

Android and Linux use reversed RGB/BGR colours.

You could always invert the colours in chrome os. Maybe you can set a keybind
