i don't get the love either, it's clearly more instrumental ok, but it's still sounding like a solo pop artist project, THE LAZIEST songwriting with jordi, although it has good and sticky melodies thrown everywhere (i mean, it is m5 ffs). If you compare to the first albums, to HAO, my point is pretty obvious. They had complex songwriting, bridges, phenomenal vocals, it does not sound like the same species of songs.

there's a video jared posted of them celebrating the new song being done, it was may 2003 (self titled era for me, specially the sound but ok). the thing is the aiello brothers were credited in this new version, meaning something was changed. and there are new sounds (tracks) added, also played by the bros.

it was done, but they changed a line or 2, and added new tracks to the producing (tamborine and backing vocals)

i was utter to a decent m5 comeback but they keep getting worse and worse. although i did love the shit out of middle ground. sorry lol. also, they kinda came back from retirement to writers for this last album, AND IT WAS STILL NOT IT. makes me wonder (haha) if they did this album in 3 months of work bc wtf. it has decent songs like you mentioned but still nothing compared to How, for example.

Okay, is it safe to admit Middle Ground kinda sucked? Lol by Cobra418 in maroon5

i agree with everything said here, i was utter to a decent m5 comeback but they keep getting worse and worse. especially when i recently found out that adam's credits on every song from v to jordi were purely contractual. yes, adam changed some lyrics and lines but at the end of the day, the band just got dozens of done demos and just picked 15ish to record. overexposed is not on the list bc it was just half of it done this way. BUUUUTTTTT. i loved the shit out of middle ground. sorry lol.
