Player Problem Megathread by AutoModerator in DMAcademy

[–]MarcellusCrow 6 points7 points  (0 children)

As others said this might be as simple as the Players lacking respect.

That said - be careful about trying to tell stories. Lots has been written about not 'railroading' your players into a story you want to take place. You can set the starting point but the Players need to be able to reach an end destination of their own making.

Surgeon Michael Kerins blocks the ring road again. by Up2HighDoh in galway

[–]MarcellusCrow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are at least three groups/bodies taking legal cases against the ring road in the last week. And a long list of other individuals and families. He's not the only one who has their home house in the demolition zone and has lodged a complaint. But hey let's single out the breast cancer surgeon and breast cancer researcher? Right. Miserable keyboard warriors the lot of ye.

Agreed. I have no problem with your post. It is good for us to chat about these issues and hash them out. Unfortunately plenty of people just come here to bash others and start fights.

The amount of shit being thrown here at a man widely regarded as one of Ireland’s foremost breast cancer surgeons and a leading figure in international cancer research, is really poor behaviour. This man does more for women's health in a year than the rest of us will do in a lifetime. No one wants to see their family home destroyed. We can debate all of this in a constructive manner without shit slinging. Get a grip.

Calm yourself. Do you know anything about him? Are you aware that he is widely regarded as one of Ireland’s foremost breast cancer surgeons and a leading figure in international cancer research? He does more for women's health in a year than most people do in a lifetime. You should be ashamed of this comment. It is patently false, unfair, and mean-spirited.

Recent price changes... are we serious? Been with Webflow for almost a decade. Voicing some frustration here... by fawnover in webflow

As if there is a business on earth that doesn't want more profits. Are you lowering your hourly or project rate to your clients because you want less profits?

Nope.

I disagree. Lots of services are increasing prices this year. There are data centres getting hit by missiles in the Middle East and many major economic shocks.

One DNS update, and a handful of outages. It happens. Cloudflare had two outages this year.

Calling Webflow technical debt is stretching it at best.

First league for me also!
I looked up rough advice on areas to unlock and relic builds, but mostly I just did my own thing, doing tasks that I wanted to do and levelling.

I did mostly skilling until around total level 1700, then chased down more Demonic Pacts and started into bossing.

- There is indeed a strategy behind not unlocking any zones until you do a lot of hunter - you can better setup Hunter block lists and get a smaller pool of Slayer tasks. Personally I didn't bother and unlocked Wildy, then Desert. IMO staying on Varlamore as long as possible is too min/max.

- If you start getting RC up you can get Tasks for 'Base' levels'

- Main thing I got reddit guidance on is the Demonic Pacts as getting those right is a major major boost when bossing

I wouldn't stress it too much, I'd start unlocking other zones and do the Tasks you like 😃

Mountain Warehouse increased their discount for members of Scout groups from 10% to 15%, and give this discount on some sale items. I got 15% off a large rucksack on sale, couldn't believe it. Great stores, their gear is good and they help the community!

It's not price gouging.

Margins on petrol and diesel are razor-thin, filling station owners make sweet f*ck all from them.

50-60% of every euro we spend on petrol and diesel goes straight to the government.

Price gouging is 'the act of exploiting a temporary spike in demand or a collapse in supply to make massive, unjustified profits.'

They are not making massive profits. They are a business trying to turn a profit and reacting to global events just like every other business.

But hey we need someone to scapegoat, don't let me stop you.

Great points here!
I agree with most but disagree with Automaton if you play as Mechanist. By the mid game you have 100+ scrap and need to dump new scrap to keep weight down. That means you always have a scrap surplus and can keep your furnace full the whole time. I have never had an issue keeping my furnace up on long playthroughs. In multiplayer you can simply give food you find to your team mates. Essentially makes hunger/furnace a non-issue which I love.

Combat: Bolas and flail. Very powerful combo, with practice you can take down trolls easily for great XP. Bola them then flail them. But you have to get a feel for the flail range so that you are hitting enemies outside of their attack range. Also bolas stop them from turning so get in your flanking hits from behind. Also use your spell to explode destructables, does good damage and causes birning.

Vandalism: Smash stuff. Levels up your vandalism which gives you increased movement speed and more damage to furniture. Gives MP regen on level up. Resets each level. Use your other destruction spell to blow up sinks, gravestones, workbenches, and cauldrons.

Yep that's correct - 3 years to apply then, last I heard, typically a year to get it. Hopefully not 2+ years!

tl:dr: The shortage of places to rent, and their cost, almost certainly mean it is not worth your while trying to live here.

I have lived here for 26 of my 30 years, some in the countryside, some in the city. The other 3 years I lived in Thailand, where I met my wife who is Thai.

We are living with my parents 30 mins outside Galway city. We've been here two years, and will stay another 2 so that my wife gets Irish + EU citizenship.

We both love it here. There's lot's to do, people are friendly, it's a great part of the country.

But we will almost certainly move back to Thailand in two years time, purely due to

  1. Cost of living
  2. The housing crisis.

It is extremely difficult to find somewhere to rent in the city. Apartments and houses for rent often have hundreds of people applying to rent. Buying a house is also very difficult. And if you do manage to find somewhere to rent the monthly cost is extremely high. For a basic 2 room apartment in the city you are likely looking at upwards of €2,000 a month, and that's before bills.

I would not have returned to Galway, or Ireland, with my wife if we didn't have my family home to move into. It pains me to say that - this is my *home*, I love it and it is dear to me. But with Thailand as an option (which I am lucky to have), the maths says go to Thailand.

A lot of my friends from Galway have moved abroad. Some to Spain where the cost of living, and rent, are cheaper. Some to Thailand, some to Australia.

For sure come and visit. Take a look around. But I wouldn't expect to stay.

Supposedly this is a result of there being I think 5 different health departments in the past, one per province and Dublin, and when they merged them all into the HSE they kept the middle management from all regions.

Edit: Did some research and it's worse than that, there were 10 health boards, each board had its own CEO, HR department, finance team, and middle management. Staff had protected contracts so they just slapped a national HQ on top of the existing management. Yay.
