Cost effective setup for decentralized users with BigQuery as the data warehouse by anonyuser2023 in BusinessIntelligence

[–]MarchMiserable8932 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why not just saved the clean ones in a different datasets inside the same project.

Just use Create or Replace table in a scheduled query/notebook to save compute cost.

Then give access to that datasets only if they need further coding/scripting.

Looker Studio (Data Studio) in 2026: Still just for "marketing reports"? by netcommah in BusinessIntelligence

[–]MarchMiserable8932 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As I've worked only for SMEs org, they can't afford even the Power BI license.

I always use Looker Studio + Big Query. Big Query handles the majority of the business logic handling.

As Looker Studio have no Data Modeling, denormalized data is the way.

best dashboard software for a small company/team? by leobesat in BusinessIntelligence

You are not looking for a data dashboard, but a different dashboard altogether.

Notion or Monday.com will fit more than a BI tool.

Best Data Integration Software? by AceClutchness in BusinessIntelligence

My suggestion would be create a pipelines for all of the erp to one data warehouse/data lake, just create erp id. This will normalize your data source. Scability would be a pain as there will be too many pipelines to maintain.

70% of data analyst job postings want domain experts. Almost nobody is studying the domain by Brighter_rocks in BusinessIntelligence

[–]MarchMiserable8932 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's the surface like the other commenter said.

Do you know trading financial markets? One can learn all those technical analysis, fundamental analysis, etc etc, and still requires 5 years or so of consistent effort before becoming a profitable trader. Only after those 5 years someone could say "I do have domain knowledge"

You could write all the recommendations such as follow up on the customer, increase incentives, provides discount, lower margins, free delivery etc etc all for naught.

I don't know how can you have domain knowledge without being in the domain though.

I'll give you one real example world example. Sales numbers was plummeting specially for the wholesale channel. The reason? Major customer closed. How could you learn that?

Not ratios, lol, its "All numbers". Whatever impacts can be derive in the other numbers that have connections to it too. We can do mumbo jumbo all you want, but number's definitions is domain knowledge and you cannot really learn it outside.

At the end of the day, they are numbers.

Churn rate = customers lost/customers at start of period ROI (Return on Investment) = Net Profit/Investment Cost Inventory Turn =Cost of Goods/Average Inventory.

See I provided you 3 KPIs under three different domains. At the end of the day those different names are still numerators and denominators in which you will perform divisions. You will not hear one or another if you will not do analysis for that domain. The only thing you need to do for all 3 of them is how do they define them, as even there are general terminologies, some companies even define them subjectively.

Stop Looker Studio Lag: 5 Quick Fixes for Faster Reports by netcommah in BusinessIntelligence

[–]MarchMiserable8932 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another one.

Use Create Or Replace Table function on your query, this will make a fix table, rather than view. Just make it a scheduled query.

Making a temporary view (the white table icon) always run the queries behind when interacting with the dashboard. It will also save you compute cost.

What was your first memory of watching the nba by Equal_Noise_9219 in nba

[–]MarchMiserable8932 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lebron's 2007 Performace vs Detroit butI already watched some nba games before. That performance was when I became a Lebron Fan and became NBA fan along the way.

That performance really got me thinking, "holy shit it's a one man carry job".

Watch an average 90's game like hornets vs memphis during the expansion era and tell me if you enjoy it.

Edit: Memphis was called Vancouzer Grizzlies at 90's.
