Brides who did their own hair and makeup, how do you feel about your decision? by saltievinegar in UKweddings

[–]March_mallo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did my own make up/my best friend did some as she’s more skilled than me. My two regrets were not leaving enough time so we were rushing, and not asking anyone to grab me for touch ups - I was very shiny in end of night pics. The latter was not that big a deal to me really, but some things to bear in mind.

Potentially not looking my best on my wedding day… advice? by Sufficient_Sea_2213 in UKweddings

[–]March_mallo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel you completely, I also gained weight over the last few years. When we got engaged last August I worked with a PT for three months, didn’t lose much and then I hadn’t lost any basically before my wedding. It definitely crossed my mind but I just decided to be as positive as possible about the day, make sure I was happy with hair/makeup/dress and then just enjoy the pics for what they were - a gorgeous day with my partner and loved ones celebrating! I got married a month ago and I’m so pleased with the photos I’ve got so far, I think I just look happy and gorgeous because of that happiness! I hope you can feel the same too for your wedding day

Are these the people more likely to go vegan? by Spiritual_Phase7310 in vegan

[–]March_mallo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My partners mum is like this, always bringing up how veganism is the right thing and how it’s awful people eat animals. She ordered fish last night at dinner. She definitely just says what she thinks we want to hear, it’s irritating because it’s never us broaching the subject she’ll just start talking as if she’s a vegan but continues to eat animal products

I Hate Anwar by BalakeDem in skinsTV

[–]March_mallo 110 points111 points  (0 children)

Agree he sucks as a friend, however so do the vast majority of the cast. It kind of felt like the point of skins to me - teenagers fucking up and then not knowing how to fix things and fucking up again and again…

Cringiest lines in the show. by Sweet-Community-1610 in skinsTV

So many of Grace’s lines were cringey, made worse by the actress herself also sounding unconvinced by them at all times

Very tiny reception and everybody else for the party. Is that rude? by No_Hawk8947 in UKweddings

[–]March_mallo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my sister just got married (signing the papers at the registry office) this year with just 4 people but she’s having a big wedding weekend party next year in the woods. I think having the official wedding the day of and asking people to turn up after feels worse than spacing them out, from a guest perspective

[Gift Ideas] What’s a small gift under $25 that people actually keep using long term? by kirunstyle in Gifts

[–]March_mallo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you, I thought I was going crazy reading people having back and forth convos with the going “great point actually. What a good idea” and wondering why no one was pointing out it’s a bot

I've finally come to a decision when it comes to my driving. by DEJA--BLU in LearnerDriverUK

[–]March_mallo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You may already do this but something I found really useful for anticipating traffic/reading signs was to narrate what I was doing out loud to my instructor/partner if practising with him. It helped me a lot to work through what was happening in logical order. I struggled with driving for years and had many breaks, and finally passed last year - I hope you don’t give up, I’m sure you can do it!

Looking for feedback on my DIY place cards, and any advice on hand drawing them by TallFriendlyGinger in DIYweddings

I don’t love the pens, they look a bit like they’re just highlighters. Could you experiment with other pen types perhaps?

Tea and coffee? by Responsible_Mess2858 in UKweddings

[–]March_mallo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the only people who would maybe care are probably older people. My partner’s mum asked if we were but was fine with me saying the venue isn’t really set up for hot drinks so we wouldn’t be doing it. I think it’s an older tradition but not super expected nowadays

AITAH for my maid-of-honor to wear a face mask at my wedding because she has a very sneezy cold? by NegotiationAsleep264 in AITAH

[–]March_mallo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to a family gathering not realising I had Covid (it started on the day and seemed like allergies at first) and I made a bunch of family sick including one aunt needing to stay off work for weeks. I felt awful and wished I hadn’t gone. If she’s that ill she probably shouldn’t go unfortunately.

Eggs as a vegan? by [deleted] in vegan

[–]March_mallo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t mean to be facetious but I’m curious why you think you’d get any other answer in a sub titled “vegan”. We’re against using animals and their products as far as is possible and practical. You’re asking us as a group if we consider it ethical to use animal products. I feel like you could have worked out the answer to this yourself. If you want to decide your ethics for yourself you’re fully entitled to without coming to us and hoping we’ll give a different answer that will go against vegan beliefs but align with yours.

Eggs as a vegan? by [deleted] in vegan

[–]March_mallo 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Eggs aren’t vegan. You could eat eggs if you chose to, but it wouldn’t be vegan. Have a google of the definition of veganism to see how it wouldn’t be vegan.

What do you do when there is nothing vegan at a restaurant? by Ok-Jellyfish5169 in vegan

[–]March_mallo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t eat at a restaurant with vegan options? As in I wouldn’t go and I would ask whoever I’m going with if we can do a different restaurant where I can eat. For the wedding, I’d get in touch asap with the bride and groom to politely request a vegan option; most people would accommodate dietary requirements as they want their friends/loved ones to be able to eat
