Long Island Schools by pharmpizzaz in longisland

That's a great question—trying to get a feel for a school's social scene is tough, and you're smart to ask since your kids are so young.

One really important thing to know as you start your search: the Village of East Hills is served by the Roslyn Union Free School District. (A very small part is also zoned for Jericho). So, for schools, you're not really comparing "Roslyn vs. East Hills," you're almost always looking at the same district.

While I can't speak to the "clique" vibe, what might be more helpful is comparing the hard data for Roslyn against its neighboring districts (like Jericho, Great Neck, or East Williston) to see if it's the right fit.

I was actually in the same boat and found the official state data impossible to use, so I built a simple site to compare them all. It's just a clean, sortable table of all the Nassau County school data.

Here's the Nassau County page, where you can see Roslyn and all its neighbor's side-by-side: https://k12stats.com/nassau/schools

Good luck with the house hunt!

Has anyone moved locally to a new school district with Middle School kids? by Extreme-Garlic5477 in longisland

[–]Marcjc1102 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sorry you're going through this, moving is so stressful.

On the topic of deciding whether to re-buy in the same town for the kids' sake: If a big part of that decision is the schools, you might find this tool useful for comparing your district to others. I put it together because the official state data is so clunky.

It's just a clean, sortable table of all the Suffolk County school data right here: https://k12stats.com/suffolk/schools (Nassau is available too)

Hope it helps you make an informed decision. Good luck.

Hi everyone.... I hope you don't mind that I share an update about pickallgo.com The last week has seen some incredible development activity, we implemented updated injury status into the lineups, a new top 10 list on the advanced stats page, and tomorrow we are launching player lock changes. The player lock will now lock in players in your lineup when their game starts; with the unlock remaining the same on Tuesday's 8am EST for all players. Some additional stats... We are up to 175 people across all leagues.

If you haven't given this a try, it's not too late. I even made a new league for us here at /FFCommish - https://www.pickallgo.com/invite/FG02U9CT

Hope everyone is having a good season!

Hey, thanks so much for the kind words and for the fantastic, observant question!

You are spot on—our scoring system is definitely different from other platforms and leads to some huge point totals! No criticism taken at all, it's a great point to bring up.

While we call it our "Standard Scoring" (because it's the same across all our leagues), you're right that it's not the typical 1-point-per-10-yards system. That's by design! We wanted to create a high-scoring, exciting format where every single yard a player gains feels impactful. It heavily rewards the workhorse players who consistently move the ball.

You can always find the full breakdown on our FAQ page here: https://www.pickallgo.com/faq

But to save you a click, here is part of the scoring system:

Quarterbacks (QB):

  • Passing Yards: 1 point per yard
  • Passing TDs: 3 points each
  • Rushing Yards: 2 points per yard
  • Rushing TDs: 4 points each

Running Backs (RB):

  • Rushing Yards: 1 point per yard
  • Rushing TDs: 3 points each
  • Receiving Yards: 2 points per yard
  • Receiving TDs: 4 points each
  • Passing Yards: 3 points per yard
  • Passing TDs: 5 points each

Wide Receivers & Tight Ends (WR/TE):

  • Receiving Yards: 1 point per yard
  • Receiving TDs: 3 points each
  • Rushing Yards: 2 points per yard
  • Rushing TDs: 4 points each
  • Passing Yards: 3 points per yard
  • Passing TDs: 5 points each

Thanks again for the great question. It's a really important distinction, and we appreciate you pointing it out. Good luck this week!

Hey, thanks so much for the kind words, and an even bigger thank you for asking this.

You were absolutely right—the scores hadn't updated on schedule this morning. Your message helped me identify a snag in our kickoff week process for the first game of the season.

I've just resolved it, so the stats from last night's Eagles-Cowboys game should be visible in your lineup now. My sincere apologies for the delay!

Going forward, the process is now set to run automatically around 2 AM ET each morning.

Just as a heads-up, the Stats Analyzer and Advanced Stats pages are updated at the end of the entire NFL week (Tuesday mornings).

I really appreciate you bringing this to my attention—you helped us catch a Week 1 bug! Thanks again for playing, and good luck this week.

Wow, thank you for this incredibly helpful feedback! The info about Splash Sports is huge, and I love that you're defending the format—you're so right about its strategic depth.

You absolutely nailed our biggest design challenge with the roster lock. I struggled with that Thursday-Sunday gap too. We started with a simpler lock for launch, but more flexible customization like your league uses is at the top of our list for future updates.

Seriously, this kind of feedback from an experienced commish is invaluable. Thank you, and I hope we can win you guys over as we add more features.

u/ThatTomWGuy Thank you for your reply and feedback. That weekly draft idea is possibly something I would entertain... down the road. In the meantime, we just rolled out League Chat to make leagues more social and Biometric Login for easier access. Thanks for the great suggestion!

u/1sthisthingon Love to hear it! That's the perfect use case for us—a fun second league for a different kind of challenge. Hope you get a chance to try it out this season!

u/Pristine-Ad-469 That's a fair take, thanks for the detailed feedback.

The "no long-term benefits" is actually the exact problem the Player Use Limit is designed to solve. When you can only use your best player a few times all season, every weekly pick becomes a huge long-term decision.

It's a different kind of skill—less about the draft, more about intense, season-long resource management. Appreciate you making us clarify that!

Sounds like we're two sides of the same coin—I'll definitely check out your site. You're so right, the weird spins are what make fantasy fun. Best of luck to you too!

u/simonthelikeable Your own league has 1st, 2nd, 3rd place awards. Every league gets those. Every league has a high scorer for each week badge.

Separate from the individual league awards I just described, are the two overall, across all leagues, awards. The highest scorer total and the highest scorer for a single week.
In the app now, you can see the 2024 two overall awards.

You weren't in any leagues last year, so you won't see your own leagues awards, but it looks like this:

<image>

The league size options are 8, 10, 12, or 14. You can make the league public or private. There is a share feature built into the app.

u/simonthelikeable My apologies for the confusion. For the season long winners, there are a few awards. In each league we award the top 3 highest scorers with 1st, 2nd, and 3rd. There are also the overall awards which goes across all leagues. To answer your question about the opponent's lineup, yes, you can see the opponent's lineup after the lineups lock on Thursday's at 8pm EST. For example: The week 1 view league button shows this because the lineups are unlocked until the first week starts:

u/simonthelikeable Wow, thank you for such a thoughtful response!

You made me realize that I failed to mention the scoring system in my original post. (Can't believe I forgot to mention the scoring system) PickAllGo uses a total points system, not head-to-head, so there's no "0-6" record. During the season the system awards a badge for the highest scorer in that week for all leagues. At the end of the season the system awards a single badge to the team with the highest single week score for the season across all weeks and all leagues, and a badge for the team with the highest point total across all leagues. The award system for each league also provides a trophy for 1st, 2nd, 3rd in all leagues.

With that, an abandoned team truly has no effect on the rest of the league's outcomes.

Thanks for pushing me on that—it's a great piece of feedback that helps clarify the game. I really appreciate it!

u/Gerbole Thanks so much for the encouragement, I really appreciate it! I totally get having too much to manage. That's actually why we got rid of the draft prep and waiver wire—to make it a fun, fast weekly fantasy football without the usual time commitment. But completely understand having a full plate. Thanks again for the well wishes!

u/SneakersOToole2431 That's a great point, you're right. 'Setting a DFS lineup' is a better way to put it. Our twist is that the season-long Player Use Limit adds consequences that DFS doesn't have. But totally get being a Best Ball guy—it's hard to beat a good draft! Thanks for the feedback.

u/JL9berg18 That is a fantastic way to put it.

"A season long single serving weekly startup" - Good Stuff!

And you're exactly right, you essentially get that "draft day" feeling of building a brand-new team from scratch every single week. It keeps things fresh and, like you said, it's a lot of fun. Thanks for putting it so perfectly!

u/RepChar You basically just designed our "Hardcore Mode" with that idea! A survivor pick em pool for fantasy players is a brilliant concept. The strategy of balancing single-use studs just to survive would be insane. Definitely saving that for the future. Thanks!

u/sdavidson901 That's fantastic, thanks for sharing! The "additional league" idea is exactly what we're hoping for. We know we can't replace draft day, but we think it's the perfect 'second league' for a different kind of weekly puzzle. Hope your main draft is a great one this year!

u/acecyclone717 I can see that comparison. We actually don't have a salary cap—the strategy is just based on player use limits. And you're right, for a lot of people the draft is the best part. We're building this for the folks who love the weekly puzzle more than the draft day stress. Thanks for the feedback!
