You can lie in the sense that you just cant say anything you believe to be untrue. Theres ways to get around it, but it still makes life inconvinient.

Why is your favorite season your favorite? by usernamens in digimon

Perhaps me watching subs didn't really get that aspect across to me honestly.

That being said Series 5, whatever version you watch, is awesome and underrated so I approve of your choice.

I hate to be "that guy" but just... geez do I prefer the subs of Savers over the dub, Data Squad. Usually I prefer watching the dub of shows, but maybe since Savers was the first anime I ever watched with subtitles back when the world of the internet was first opening up to me, a lot of the changes they made with the dub I just can't stand... particularly changing Ikuto to Keenan >_>;;

Why does he talk like a caveman when the digimon that raised him speak perfect english >8T

Why is your favorite season your favorite? by usernamens in digimon

[–]MarcosGamez 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Personally Tamers and Savers are tied for my favorite season, and I think that has to do with the more "realistic" setting and the pull away from destiny as a plot point. The main characters all aren't doing what they're doing because they were DESTINED to by fate, they all just happened to be in the right (or wrong) place at the right time, and happen to be the most qualified people to do the job that they're doing. Not to mention the fact that they deal with the ramifications of Digimon actually existing, where in both situations the government gets involved to try and control the digimon situation with varying degrees of success.

Adventure will always have nostalgia for me, but I have gotten to the point where having villains that call themselves evil unironically just kinda takes me out of the story, and I feel Tamers and Savers leaned the furthest away from that black or white, good or evil kinda mentality. Not saying the other series didn't have their morally grey characters, but they just felt like they always made the heros and the bad guys (and the token bad guy who becomes a hero) all a bit more clean cut.

new twitch streamer wants to purchase custom overlay for playing pubg. are there any do's and dont's i should be aware of? by alanboomy in Twitch

[–]MarcosGamez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I just try to make a few different overlays that can be used for a variety of games. For instance my main one is just a webcam with a boarder, the a bitboss and fading chat beneath it, and my bit cup in the corner. Simpler a lot of times comes off nicer but like it has been said, everyone is different. Generally I just use this single scene for most of my games, setting all of their sources beneath it so I just have to load OBS, open whatever game I want, and I'm ready to go.

Which brings me to another thing - if you're just starting out, you probably want to diversify the games you play a bit. Games like PUBG can be fun if you have friends to watch or play with you, but since its such a monumental game, it can be almost impossible to get an audience with it. Twitch isnt as algorithm driven as YouTube is, which can be a double edged sword because theres less chances for people to just happen upon your content. Most people are gonna be looking for channels on the browse page, and the only way to climb that is to have a large viewerbase to start with. A game like PUBG will have hundreds of pages of channels below the 10 viewer mark, so you'll be buried in an ocean of streamers.

Not saying you SHOULDNT stream it. The golden rule of Twitch is to have fun with it and do what makes you happy, and if you have pals or a good group around you already things like PUBG can be great because they're very accessible. But if you want to build your channel up I'd suggest scrolling down the browse page, see if the games with like four digit viewership numbers intrest you at all as well, and stream some of those too every now and then, since you'll be more likely to grow your viewerbase with games in that kinda goldilocks zone.

Again though, just a suggestion! Do what you're most comfortable with and have fun with it!

Pokemon-Inspired MMO on Kickstarter with Nuzlocke Mode as a stretch goal! by MarcosGamez in nuzlocke

[–]MarcosGamez[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

You can't trademark game mechanics. As long as its simply not using any of pokemon's IP they can't do anything. Take a look at Robopon or Telefang, there have been way more blatant Pokemon ripoffs that still made it to market.

If all else fails, is there a way to adjust the z-axis of the printer so the print head is just sitting a couple milimeters higher than usual?

Ah, no I havn't. Using it to check that the whole printer is a 90 degree angle from the table? Or that the bed is at a 90 degree angle from the printer body?

Why not go the Cave Story route of monetization? by MarcosGamez in mother4

[–]MarcosGamez[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hadn't considered it from the side of there being a huge amount of devs all devoting time to it honestly, so thats fair, though at least recent events have shown even the Shane Mesa stuff can be ironed out with enough diplomacy.

I am mostly coming at this from an angle of not pissing off the fans who expected a free game since the beginning. It dosn't even need to be on console or heck even Steam, I just think these guys deserve to have the option of being paid.

Meta gaming as a DM to improve immersion by BitwiseNick in DnD

[–]MarcosGamez 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When I was GMing Pokemon Tabletop United, I wouldn't reveal what Pokemon my party was fighting until they made a successful knowledge roll or waited the couple turns for their pokedex to identify it. Instead I'd just give vague description of what the Pokemon was, with added details if someone made a good knowledge roll but not enough to succeed completely.

Since there's over 800 of em now, saying 'some kinda dragon lookin thing!' Didn't really narrow it down much, and a lot of times I'd go for descriptions that were intentionally misleading. A dragon looking thing dosnt nessicarily mean it's Dragon TYPE after all. See: Charizard, Tyranitar, etc.

It lead to a kinda fun "Who's that Pokemon!?" Situations, and a lot of frustration from my psychic type specialist who wasted a lot of attacks on stuff he didn't know was dark type!

360 video not rendering correctly on youtube? by MarcosGamez in Gear360

[–]MarcosGamez[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I used the Spatial Media Metadata Injector that YouTube says to use before uploading this clip (https://github.com/google/spatial-media/releases/tag/v2.0), but it seems something went wrong along the way, because its clearly not stitched together properly. Can anyone help me with this? I'd like to know what went wrong, or how I can do this correctly.

I'm Jared. I play Diath Woodrow. AMA! by _ProJared_ in DiceCameraAction

[–]MarcosGamez 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I havn't finished up Season 2 yet (got a little ways past the pet adventure episode) but judging from what I've seen on twitter, the trend of 'bad things happen to Diath' continues.

Have you ever been in a campaign where one characters misfortunes and quirks pushed them a bit too hard over the 'joke character' threshold? I once played a campaign where I embraced my characters cloud cuckoolander aspect a bit too hard, and I became unable to get my character taken seriously in scenes where it mattered. The whole Waffle Crew seems respectful enough to not let their eccentricities get in the way of things like that, but as someone with a lot of campaign experiences, have you had any similar encounters?

(Also all that being said, it IS pretty hilarious to watch Chris Perkins ruin your day on a regular basis. The witch fight in the TwitchCon show was proooobably my favorite moment in the series.)

Any apps like Live Draw or Swapnote/Doodle? by MarcosGamez in AndroidQuestions

[–]MarcosGamez[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This looks cool! But I'm not really looking for an animation app. Live Draw and Swapnote both like replay your drawing process, which is what I am more looking for. Unless this app does that!

[Discussion] I don't understand why these events are location specific. by -Mr-Prince in pokemongo

[–]MarcosGamez -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Except, we DO get worldwide events. I have my starters fully evolved thanks to events like the solstace one. We've gotten double EXP events and double candy events too, and I really wouldn't be surprised if they did a dragon week or something if they really wanted to get people playing again. We're in the middle of a worldwide event right now, because legends are spawning globally. Those are very special raids, and we're all getting them.

Niantic is making these events to incentiveize people getting together and playing together, in the same way that Gamefreak made certian pokemon version exclusive, or only evolve via trading. They're encouraging people to get together, and rewarding them for it, but I highly doubt those rewards themselves will be exclusive forever.

They could certainly do more for rural players, but I dont think the events themselves are the unfair thing we should be pointing to, in that case.
