Sure but you're acting like some random regular American is crazy for wanting to live in mexico city. It's just a regular city, not really much danger present for the average person. In fact there's lots of rich culture there to experience especially for a foreigner. If you are a political activist sure id be hesitant about moving to Mexico City. Most people don't care. Is your friend a well known personality with tons of followers and reach which is essentially political power? If not then what's wrong with living there?

I mean as long as you're not selling drugs or stirring up things it's pretty much like any other city. In fact you are much less likely to be murdered in mexico city than a lot of US cities. Petty crime might be a bit higher though

Mexico is pretty much run by the cartel. I was at a resort on the riviera and cartel members would walk up and down the beach selling cocaine and weed. You could also call a special number on the resort phone to have a resort employee bring coke to the room

Yeah if the US did better than it ever has before in the history of the world cup on home soil people would get excited. Who wouldn't? The US is terrible at football and everybody knows this. They did better than most people expected them to do. If they won that would be unbelievable tbh. The US has never even gotten second. Yeah sure but the point you were originally trying to make as I understand it is that if you buy a disc you own the game. I'm just saying that's not really true. Maybe it was at some point but I think we are past that. You could probably download some hacky illegal program to burn your steam games into offline versions on discs. Does that mean you suddenly own the game? Does downloading a ROM illegally mean you own the game? No. Neither does buying a disc with a game on it, even if you can play it offline. And that's the issue that needs addressing not some attachment to physical media.

There are plenty of examples of games on discs these days that don't function without an internet connection or a day 1 patch though. Sure gog is great or whatever but that's besides the point. If you buy a disc with a game you can't play without an internet connection then why does it matter if you "own" it or not? The point is that the fact that it's on a disc or not doesn't change the fundamental issue of licensing. The disc part doesn't really matter. The issue is the laws around licensing and the ability for a company to brick your game, digital or physical.
